They were checking for the possibility of repair or whether it needs to be replaced. They are supposed to get back with me this week. They went out and took a look at it. They made a determination that at what point it was questionable whether not doing any work on it would beneficial. Right now it's not working. They are going to have to make a determination for repairs. They said they could repair. It was questionable. It's 14 years old. We've used them for years.

First of all the equipment is superb and would recommend to anyone.  The rest of the experience is a mild night mare.  
  
Was told when units order that they would take care of all details including bringing in an electrician to make sure service to units was adequate (this is where the rub comes in). During installation one of installers put a foot through sheet rock in ceiling. When work was completed I went ahead and paid remainder of what I owed (big mistake). After they left with my money they called local inspector to come and inspect work and it failed. Electrical service to unit was not large enough due to size of auxiliary heat strips. Call to inform contractor no response. After several calls and 2 months of waiting had to go to office to track down owner and ask about fix. Promised to come and fix problem and finally did two months later and additional calls. When installation inspected passed but because contractor had change out heat strips to smaller size without asking me or inquiring about what I wanted all to keep from having to have and electrician come and do some work. This all could have been avoided if they had an electrician check before starting project as they stated they would. In summary it took six months to from start to finish to get final inspection and clearance.
  
If you do business with this company then do not pay them until all work is done and all inspections have passed. If they want a deposit do not pay more than40% and hold rest until EVERYTHING IS COMPLETED.

Our Propane Gas Pack central heating unit quit working on Saturday night 2-16-2013 at around midnight. It was one of the coldest weekends of the winter thus far. I think the temp got down to around 20F degrees that Sunday morning. My family and I are on a fixed income. So we avoided calling for a weekend (emergency) repair call. We assumed the cost for that would be astronomical. We made due with electric space heaters and the oven in the kitchen and a small propane heater in the living room. We called Pernell Inc. Monday morning 2-18-2013 around 9 a.m. and they said they would be out later in the afternoon. This was fine with us because by the this time the weather had broken somewhat and we weren't desperate for heat. But, their repairman came earlier than anticipated at around 10 a.m. He went right to work on the unit and had it up and running in about 45 minutes to an hour. He told us that the problem was that a bug had gotten into the "burner orphace". He cleaned it and started the unit without delay. All was well and is well. Just wish the cost weren't so high.

They also went over with us about up keep and what is suggested to maintain the unit going forward. It was an outstanding and great experience. If we have an issue we will use them again.
