This builder was a recent family friend whom we later realized had inserted himself and his family into our lives when he became aware that we bought a lake lot and were preparing to build a home. After the contract was signed, he quickly became adversarial.
He rarely showed up on the job and had no foreman or representative on the job. Subcontractors could not contact him for weeks at a time. Quotes for work were outrageously high. Everything he would tell us were obvious lies. Subcontractors began to complain that he was pressuring them into unethical and illegal acts. The list goes on. He was fired and warned to never return to the property.
Soon our lives were filled dealing with fraud, harassment, sexual harassment, tresspassing, stalking, etc. We also found that he had been and was countinuing to harass and stalk other neighbors and customers. We eventually settled out of court.
