WARNING - J.D. Floor Store does not know how to install wood floors and/or they do not honor their warranty. We had J.D. Floor Store install a whole house of hardwood floor (hickory) with a Lifteime Warranty on "anything that is installation related" (quoting from the warranty). Within a year of the install we noticed that the floors had been buckling near the edges of the rooms. Not just one or two rooms, but every room in the house. We recently reached out to J.D. Floor Store in October 2016 about installing some tile in the kitchen and explained the wood floor problem at that point. They sent out a representative who was going to take measurements for our kitchen, but had no idea about the wood floor situation before he came (I guess J.D. did not tell him about that before hand). The store representative told us that the entire wood flooring had been installed incorrectly and that all of it should be replaced. The next store communication we received (from JD and Katie) indicated that they would be able to fix the flooring at no cost but only if we hired them to install the kitchen tile. They indicated that the problem we were having was not covered by the warranty (citing that natural expansion of the wood is a moisture issue, which is not covered by the original warranty). Mind you, JD nor Katie have come out to look at the flooring. We have been trying to get them or another appropriate representative to take another look for the last several months, but it seems that J.D. flooring is not willing to help us unless we buy from them. We have obtained quotes from other flooring companies for the kitchen tile, and have seen the wood floors, and they have told us that the damage to our wood floor is really an installation problem. They indicated that hickory is a floor that does not retain much moisture, and even so, that should be taken into account during install of any wood floor. J.D. Floor Store does not know how to install wood floors and/or they do not honor their warranty. Either way, I would not recommend anyone doing business with them.

They were very helpful and trustworthy since they did the work for us while we were still living in NJ. They had access to the house and completed the work in 2 days, staying in touch with us all the while, We arrived at the house 4 days later very impressed with the look and quality of the labor and material.

I started out by going to Lumber Liquidators due to advertisements of great deals and got a quote. At that time, I wasn't sure what I really wanted. I decided to visit surrounding floor stores to look at other flooring options and get a second opinion, third and so forth. I was down to my last quote and came across the product that I was interested in. I decided to get one last quote to compare and contrast so, I called J.D. Floor Store. I'm very glad that I made that call to J.D. Floor Store to bid on my flooring project. I went by the showroom in Charlotte, NC but I couldn't find what I wanted. I discussed with the owner John Daniell about  the flooring that I was interested in getting for my home. John was quick to get in contact with the company and made it an available option. We agreed on a contract and scheduled an installation date. The installers arrived promptly and completed on time. They were very courteous, professional and made sure that everything had met my expectations before they left the job. If you expect to get a good deal and excellent results then I highly recommend J.D. Floor Store located next to Lumber Liquidators to work on your future flooring project.

I purchased my hand scraped bamboo flooring from lumber liquidators (great product and great deal during a yearly sale. JD flooring was recommended and they were great to work with. There was an initial on site house visit for measurements. I had an estimate emailed to me that day. There was some back and forth about what was needed since I was having a great deal of other interior remodeling done. We were able to come to a decision via email quickly. After the floors were prepped for the flooring company by my contractor, i was informed by the flooring comany that my contractor did not sufficently level the floors and that a type of cement (no other way to describe the way it looked) was needed to be applied to make it level. This delayed the installation for another couple days and was an additional charge not in the original estimate. When the floors dried, they installed the floors, it was fast! The end result was a great job.

A courtious friendly fellow, Brian, delivered the flooring two days before installation.  The crew arrived at time specified and began work.  Friendly and efficient five-man crew supervised by Brian (another Brian).  Clean up was good and the floor is exceptionally nice.
I had another company from Raleigh install a luxury vinyl floor on my first floor.  It was a disaster, to put it mildly.  I'm not kidding about that one bit.  JD Floors was like having engineers come in and do a precise job.  The entire job was done in less time than it took for me to clean my house.  The order came in with the incorrect size molding.  Josh ordered the molding and it was installed quickly, much quicker than I had expected.  I had expected to wait about a week.
So happy I hired them.  Wish I had hired them for the first-floor installation.  I would have been much happier and obviously a better job would have been done.

We planned the refinishing for a particular date and made it coincide with a vacation trip since the refinishing would disable our kitchen and the odor and dust might be discomforting. A key was given to the representative to allow workers access. When the time arrived we left town and the workers began their task of refinishing the two floor areas. When we arrived back in town we found the beautiful floor waiting. The representative arrived the next day to inspect the work with us present. All were satisfied and the bill was paid. End of story.

The service turned out very well. J D was very knowledgeable and let us know about all of the options we had. We did not know much about flooring and he really guided us. We learned a lot from him.

They were fine. We were happy with the job. I would recommend them and use them again. They sent out two or three women to clean the wood dust off of the walls after the service was completed. This service was awesome and huge help.

I went to their store and ordered the flooring. Within a couple of weeks it was installed. Had a problem with a seam. They came back and fixed it a few days later. Nice staff.

Overall, it was a big disappointment.  The laminate floors were not laid well and popped up along some edges.  Each time i called to ask that they fix the problem they held me off claiming scheduling problems.  I was surprised that they would not rush out to fix floors that they had just installed.  The problem has never been fully fixed so there are still edges that do not stay flat.  There were other problems:  1) they had to cancel twice because, they said, materials weren't in; 2) they didn't measure my kitchen properly and so showed up without adequate materials to complete the job on the day we agreed on; the guy who came to lay the floors turned out to be someone their guy had contracted out to do the work and so JD Floor Store didn't even know who was laying my floors on the day the job was done.  As for my wood floors, I discovered the problems with that much later.   Some details that were left unfinished such as molding that wasn't cut to proper size, etc.  Most importantly, the people who they had install the floors knocked the boots from my ducts down into my crawl space and never bothered to fix that, causing my crawl space air to come up through the vents (an added heating and cooling expense).  I didn't know about this right away but, once discovered the problem, I had to pay someone to come and reattach all duct boots in my downstairs.  The first thing the person who had to reattach them asked me was: "Did someone recently install floors for you."

In my experience JD Floor store was quick to ask for the payment but not good about doing a quality, completed job. One of the worst contractor experiences I've had.

I thought they were excellent! The owner, J D, is was very hands-on. He was the one who provided the actual estimate, and he supervised the crew and work extremely well once the project was started.

I have had a great experience with this contractor.  I consulted several hardwood  installation and refinishing contractors, and  most of them would not even attempt my spiral staircase or the parquet  floor in the family room, which required some repair.   JD Floor Store was reasonably priced and the quality of the work was exceptional, from the initial estimate to the painter and cleaning crew they used to complete the job.     John Daniel was courteous and professional and stayed in touch throughout the job.   I rate my experience with his company an A+

JD was being used by two other neighbors who both told me that they had a very good experience. He gave us a very competitive bid and started his work on time. He worked with us to make sure the new floors would match the other hardwood floors in the house. He was on site every day and the workers were punctual and on schedule throughout the job. The floors looked amazing when they were done and we are now carpet free (hooray!). When the movers made a small scratch replacing the furniture he was over quickly to repair the work, no questions asked. It was very good working with him and I highly recommend him.

I was very pleased with the services provided by JD Hardwood Flooring. My primary contact was John Elliot, who was professional, polite, and knowledgable. Unlike some of the other refinishers I got estimates from, John brought samples to the consultation, which gave me a better idea of what shade to choose. I also stopped by the showroom to get a better idea of how the various shades compare to each other. The contractors did a good job, and the floor looks great. A week after the job was completed, I noticed some trim that wasn't done exactly the way I wanted. I called John, and they fixed it promptly with no complaints. I would definitely use these guys again -- very happy with the level of service I got.

JD was very helpful when I was trying to figure out what kind of wood I wanted, and what would be best to do for me. His crew came when they were scheduled to, and did a gorgeous job. They figured out that something I wanted would not work well, and told me about it even thought it cost them a few hundred extra. That said, the installer left the company right at the finish of my job, and a couple of minor things still had to be done - a threshold installed, and a door rehung. Not a problem, except that it took weeks for this to be completed - I think this was mostly because of the person who left, but it was still a nuisance. There was also some mis-communication about how much I wanted done, and there wasn't quite enough wood. This worked out, but it was a bit disorganized. Overall, they did a great job, but their organizational skills were a little lacking. A lot of that was because someone left unexpectedly, though. I would definitely use them again.

The company is very professional. They even offered, as part of the price, to have a cleaning person come in after the job was finished. We, unfortunately, didn't take advantage of this.

I chose this company from the phone book. The owner's sister was very friendly on the phone and in person. She seemed to care a lot about our floors and assured us the owner could fix the damage and coat the floors for @ $300. This included the kitchen, entry, and DR. She also gave us a written estimate for $900 if we decided to have the floors completely refinished. We had considers extending the wood floors into the LR and office, but decided to replace the carpet there since we only needed a buff and coat on the wood floors. If we added more wood floor, then we would have to have complete refinishing for them to match. On the day of the scheduled buff and coat, we moved everything (including heavy furniture) off the wood floors, as instructed. An hour late, a man called and said he was on his way. When a truck finally pulled up, we noticed it did not say JD Hardwood Flooring. It was a sub-contractor, which was not what we were expecting. We let the two men in and showed them the floors. One man could not speak any English and the other could only speak a little. They indicated they didn't think those scratches would come out, but would try one area to show me. They brought in a machine and spent a couple of minutes buffing (like a light sanding). The scratches remained and the coating rubbed off. I could not reach John Daniel or his sister, so I sent the men away and did not pay them. The owner finally returned my call and scheduled a time to come out and see the floors himself a week later. He arrived late. He looked at the scratches, said only a complete refinishing would fix them, and said he needed to teach his sister more. He looked over the original estimate and said the $900 amt was wrong, and upped it to over $1000! We did not have the floors worked on and still have the scratches and the dull spot the men buffed. This company is unprofessional. The owner may be talented in his craft, but he has no business sense. I think hiring this company for anything would be a gamble. The man is very young and doesn't seem to understand customer service.
