The assistant called and said, "We require a double deposit because your mother has no credit." I called her present landlady and asked if anyone called inquiring about her rental history and she said, "No." I then called Jim Garrett and said, "You want a double deposit from my 90 year old mother because she has no credit, but does she have any judgments? I called her landlady asking had anyone called about my mothers rental history and she told me no. So you did not do a thorough investigation on her. Now you want $750.00 deposit and $375.00 first months rent for a total of $1125.00 and you know after asking $25.00 for a criminal background check on an old woman who can't walk that money is tight and she is on a fixed income. I think I will pass on the house and would like her $25.00 back because you can get a criminal background check free on line but you would not let me do it. You wanted the money." I believe it was age discrimination but can not prove it. I then found another house, 2 bdr. for $400.00 and that rental agency did not do a criminal background because of her age.
