Phone Service - Cellular
My wife and I have been Verizon customers since May of 2011 and have been very pleased with the quality of the phones and the service provided. Over time, however, the cost of that service per month has taken a larger percentage of our monthly budget than we felt we could afford. Our options seemed limited; replacing our smart phones with 'dumb' ones was one we'd looked at, but when we heard about Republic Wireless we felt it was too good to be true.
Investigating Republic (Consumer Reports as well as word-of-mouth from someone we knew who had that service) as well as their no questions asked return policy helped us to give them a try. We signed up for the plan that includes 3G when away from a wireless hot spot for $25.00/phone/month (a savings of over $50.00/phone/month). The directions for starting the phones were very clear, and I had no difficulty transferring my number over. My wife chose not to transfer her number until she saw how it went with mine; when we decided to go ahead we initially had some trouble moving her old number from Verizon, but the help 'desk' folks were able to resolve that issue quickly once they understood what was happening.
The switching from wireless hot spot to 3G has been seamless whether on a phone call or using Pandora or my GPS. Both of us are avid Republic fans now and I cannot recommend them enough. Give them a try; you'll not be disappointed.

Phone Service - Cellular
I went to their web site and ordered a phone. Received phone, but it did not work accordingly to what their web site stated. Republic stated that their new type of cell phone would ping off of Wi-Fi towers and if no Wi-Fi towers were available the phone would ping off of regular cell towers. Well when tested the phone would not pick up cell towers and all Wi-Fi access sites were pass word locked because they were not public domain only private companies. So when I contacted Republic Wireless they had no customer service number. I could only access them through email. When asked for a customer service number I was told by email they did not have one because it was cheaper to email! It took me 2 weeks to resolve my issues by email and get my phone returned for a refund which I was promised a 30 day no hassle refund. My last email I got from Republic was that they would be keeping $50.00 of my money because the screen of my phone was scratched which was a laugh because it had not left the box it came in,but once. I am still trying to get my $50.00 returned. Stay away from this company!
