"Mr. [Member Name Removed], Sorry for the communication issues you incurred during this repair. As you can imagine we had hundreds of repairs we were completing just like yours from the hail damaged. So we were fairly busy with calls and emails relating to these issues. We do our best to respond as quickly as possible. As far as the email address typo, I apologize. It is not our Intent to enter emails incorrectly. Thank you and have a great week."

"Thanks for the review! Hope we can work together on a future project!"
Ups and downs. The project manager Billy, and the crew members were very nice to work with and we enjoyed them greatly. The finished work is beautiful, but we did have to work through a punch list of fixes. The original quote was done about 5 months before signing up, and they did not want to honor that quote. The salesman misquoted some details, also (he is no longer employed there). They ended up compromising with us, and we paid about half of the additional cost in the new quote. More costs were subsequently added while the work was in progress.
Overall, the company was great to work with on a personal level, and they did good final work on the siding. The one disappointment we were left with was that major damage was done to landscaping all around the house, and a phone line and cable line were destroyed - none of which they offered to compensate for. All of the mulch was removed with their "clean up", which resulted in the house being surrounded in a sea of mud during rainy periods throughout the process. Numerous azaleas and other plants were crushed, and almost every path light was flattened. The bobcat used to deliver the siding materials literally plowed up the whole front corner of our lawn, as well. Needless to say, we now have an new, unplanned for project of repairing all of that as we go into Spring.
The sell was simple, low-pressure, and everything I needed done they could do at a good price. Upon hiring Wendell Siding, the windows were ordered and the installation date was scheduled for a Monday a couple weeks later. A crew showed up exactly on that day and had installed all the siding within two days, and the windows, and gutters were done by day four.
The bad:
There were a lot of details that were left "hanging", and some items simply did not get finished in a manner I consider to be professional. Some of these were small items, like a doorbell not re-attached with its the bare wires left hanging, and a hose spigot not being bolted back into the wall, a cracked window that nobody confessed to breaking. These are all things I can fix, but I didn't hire a company to leave things worse than they found them. We filled up a trash can with cigarette butts, wood scraps, and other garbage that should have never made it to the lawn. Inside, near one of the windows the installers left dirty hand prints all over the wall. I had to instruct the gutter installers that they failed to put downspouts in the right locations. We have two Palladian windows with curved molding at the top; I was told the molding could not be wrapped in aluminum like the other windows, and that this would simply be painted; they were never painted.
The ugly:
Two of the things I specifically mentioned as concerns were: 1) the roof ridge vent/seam needing to be replaced and 2) an area where siding met the concrete landing of the front porch. After the first week of work several weeks went by with no follow-up by the company. I called to get things wrapped up and the foreman showed up a few days later--to collect the bill! I mentioned that these issues hadn't been addressed and that there was some unfinished work inside the house. He laid on the pressure for me to go ahead and cut a check before the work was completed--something I'll never do again. He had a guy climb up on the roof and drive a few nails into the old ridge vent (not really worth the $250 line-item they charged me for it, and not a replacement of the old ridge vent). Then he had a painter do the interior finishing work (in apparently the cheapest, quickest way possible, using a 1x2 instead of a matching piece of window molding). Then the painter ran a bead of caulk around the area of concern on the front porch. He used painters caulk which dissolved in the ran that night, leaving a milky puddle on the front porch that I had to clean up. A professional would have installed flashing beneath the siding and adhered it to the concrete in the first place. I called the sales manager up the next business day, and I was told to call the installer who did the actual work. I called the installer and we agreed to meet at a certain time. I took off some time from work to meet the guy, and he never showed up. I called sales manager back and had to leave a voice mail, which was never returned.
The way I see it: they cashed my check and consider me a fool to expect any correction of their sloppy and incomplete work. You cannot trust this company. If they did it to me they will likely do it to you.
"Hey [Member Name Removed], Sorry that you had an unpleasant experience with our previous sales manager. You do have a lifetime warranty on the labor for as long as you own the home. If you are not satisfied, please contact our office and we will make sure that any loose ends are taken care of. Thank you!"
Probably didn't really hurt anything, but they should have finished the project while the weather was good.
It is said that you get what you pay for. Although my original estimate was for a little over $1000.00, and the final bill was around $3000.00, it was worth every penny. When we did the original estimate, I had not included asking them to paint the fascia boards and soffit, and had not originally planned to do but 3 sides of the house. That explains the difference in price from the original estimate to the final bill.
My husband and I did the final painting of the house and windows and I must say I am not embarrassed to invite friends over now.
Although the final bill was a little more than my parents had planned on, they were also impressed with the work done by Wendell Siding's crew. I am thoroughly delighted with the work done and would happily recommend this company to anyone needing work done on their house.
This was a pleasant experience and I love the results. It is beautiful. The contracting staff and work crews were all wonderful. I have received many compliments from my neighbors.
The siding crew also rescued a baby squirrel from my attic. I was unaware that a squirrel had made its home there through my old siding. Then, they found a home for the abandoned baby. I will use this Wendell Siding again.
