Gerry is an excellent, professional painter. He painted our kitchen maple cabinets that looked even better painted than in their original form! He has an excellent eye for detail, is prompt, and is so very personable! Highly, highly recommend his work, as do others in my neighborhood (Chapel Hill).

Our painted kitchen and master bath cabinets were ten plus years old. So they were dinged up and starting to look dated. Since we liked the design and layout and they were very good quality, we decided to have them repainted instead of replacing them. We selected Fine Line Painting based on Gerry's knowledge, experience, and references. Gerry did a great job and we were extremely pleased that our kitchen and master bath looked fresh and new.

This is a follow up from a March 2014 review. We gave Gerry the keys to the house, left for a few days and were amazed when we returned home. The quality of the work was flawless and the quality of the real Sherwin Williams paint he used is unquestionable. Our cabinets look like they were painted yesterday. There has been no chipping or wearing through even after washing food splatters off. Also, by having used a quality brand name paint, I was able to go to Sherwin Williams and purchase the exact same product and paint all the kitchen trim myself with a perfect match. We had planned on selling our house when we had this done but we're still here and enjoying Gerry's work everday.

Gerry did a great job. Our cabinets were cherry and very dark. Gerry painted them a light almond color and it really brightened up our kitchen. It’s been three years and they still look great. We referred him to some friends who also utilized his services.

His work was not as promised. He promised to pay attention to detail. On my hood vent which had detail work I had to ask him to repaint and he would only retouch. He did not sand or smooth before painting several areas. The bottom beneath the detail is all smudged up. The same for my pot rack. He charged me 100 to paint it but would not paint the top and I had to point out to him all the brown areas that needed to be painted again. The cabinets doors have edges that show the original brown and have smudges. He clearly shows no attention to detail. He did not paint the top of the cabinet doors and I had to ask him to come back and do that. He said that no one paints the top of the doors. This was not discussed beforehand. I would have paid extra. He came back to paint the top of the doors but left several areas undone. He complained about needing to be paid but did not see his errors. If you ding the paint lightly the brown shows. Clearly he did not put as many coats on the cabinets as promised. I wish I would have had an honest review before hiring him. Please read this review and consider the problems I had before hiring him for your job. I paid him but was not satisfied. I will find another painter to fix his errors.

Great! I called Gerry a few years back after receiving a mailer packet in which he advertised. I was dying to redo my kitchen and have my cabinets done. He explained his process and I said I would get back to him when I got organized. It took me about 5 years to call him back! But I did in August of 2014. He is booked so far in advance, since he's the only one who really does this exclusively in the area, he had no openings until this May, 2015. Since I am not exactly quick to get things done I booked him for May 18. Long story short... He came to give a look & estimate in November, I think. We talked about a wk before and chose a color and then he started. It took a bit more than a wk . I have 47 drawers and doors total.. Pretty big kitchen. The final day he hung the doors , put on the new pulls and new hinges... Looks absolutely beautiful! I chose Alabaster , a creamy white, and it's gorgeous! It's been almost a month and I'm still amazed when I look at them..Now I have to get the rest of the kitchen finished!!gerry is an extremely nice, down to earth person . He is super at what he does. Very neat , too. He recommended a painter to me to do the rest of the kitchen and I am going to use him.

We met with Mr. Hubbell months ago and liked what he had to say. We wanted the work done soon, but were in no rush and it was a good thing as he was booked for months. We finally agreed on a time and all went well. He always called before he came just in case there was a scheduling conflict on our part. On the first day he removed all the doors and drawers and took them to his shop. The following day he prepped the bare cabinets. Over the next couple of days he painted the cabinets and a couple of days after that put them all back together. They look great. We're happy with the work and would definitely use him again. Oh, and he does all the work himself. No crew shows up to do the work and the "owner" shows up to collect payment. He is the crew and the owner.

Gerry seems to be about the only person in the area that specializes in painting cabinetry. He gave us an estimate in June and could not schedule the work until January of 2015 because of his workload. He called us a couple of months later to say he had a cancellation and could start the work in December, which we agreed to. Gerry works alone and does meticulous work. We enjoyed having him in the house and the only complaint we had with him is that he tended to not show up for work at the hour promised. He always called to let us know of a delay, but he was late just about every day. The trade off to this was that he completed everything he promised with a very high level of skill and did a beautiful job. The completed finish on the cabinets looks like it was factory done.
Gerry is highly recommended, but call him well in advance of your project.

This has to be one of my best Angie's List experiences yet.
Gerry and I talked on the phone and within a few days he came over to give a written estimate which was basically what we had talked about on the phone. Within two minutes I knew I wanted to hire him.
We talked about scheduling and I was surprised about how booked up he is but I told him that we wanted to put our house on the market in May. Gerry is one of these guys that after you talk to him for about 30 seconds you know that he is totally trustworthy. I told him that we were going out of town for five days in a couple of weeks and that he could have free realm of the house. He fit me in. While we were gone he took off all the doors and took them to his shop to sand and spray paint and also put primer and then two coats of high quality Sherwin Williams paint ($65/gallon retail in the Sherwin Williams store) on the boxings and panels left in the house.
We came home to find everything left in pristine condition. The boxings and panels looked great. Gerry still had the doors and would come and install them the next week.

Gerry is awesome. He took about a week to complete the job. He uses only the best Sherwin Williams paint. We saved over $8,000 by having him paint the cabinets instead of purchasing new ones. The cabinets are now better then anything you could buy in the factory.

We have over 50 cabinets and drawers in our kitchen that were 25 year old honey oak. We were updating our kitchen and wanted the cabinets painted but had alot of trouble finding someone experienced painting cabinets. Almost everyone we talked to wanted to reface them which would mean replacing our oak cabinets with some manufactured material and apparently covering the cabinet boxes with a plastic like veneer. Our cabinets are in excellent condition and we only wanted to change the color, not get rid of them. Most people refacing cabinets would tell us that we would not like the result if the cabinets were painted but we found Fine Line painting on Angie's List and we think our newly painted cabinets are beautiful. The whole process took one week.
The cabinet doors were removed and Gerry took him to his shop to paint them. The boxes and drawer fronts were painted in place but we did not have to remove our items from the cabinets or drawers. Gerry cleaned up everything thoroughly when

Gerry did an excellent job. Everything was done in accord with the written estimate. He was punctual and very clean. We were away on vacation when he did the job, and everything was in pristine condition when we returned. I would not hesitate to use him again. I wish he also did general household interior painting, but, alas, he specializes in painting cabinets.

I was VERY worried about paint cabinets as I have seen too many do it yourself jobs that look horrible. You cannot exactly change back to stain if you paint. I wanted to convert the 90s standard oak stained cabinets to a clean and modern cream white.
So I did a bunch of research and eventually decided to use Fine Line. Aside from being recommended by cabinet specialists, I picked fine line because cabinet paint is the ONLY thing they do. Expertise counts. I may have paid a bit more then some (though price are fair and straight forward) I got what I paid for. The kitchen looks great!

I got estimates from 3 businesses for painting my kitchen cabinets - $1,300, $1,880 and $2,800. I decided to go with FineLIne at $1,880 because the only thing Gerry does is paint kitchen cabinets. I am very pleased with the result and I don't think anyone could have done a better job. The cabinets look terriffic!
I had to be out of town for a week and gave Gerry a key and he did the work while I was gone. He originallhy said he would be done when I returned on Saturday, but still had to hang the caninet doors on Monday. I live in a one-story condo with two bedrooms and two baths and I was surprised to see the master bath toilet seat was up when I got home, so I knew he had used my bathroom instead of the guest bath. I am unhappy that he felt comfortable in my personal space and wonder if he went through anything else.
He needed a few hours to finish up on the Monday after I got back to town, so he got started and I left for an appointment.
Gerry used oil-based paint so there were fumes and I closed the door to my bedroom and bath to keep the odor out. When I returned, he had used my bathroom again (a new roll of toilet paper had been put on) even though the door to the guest bath was open and visable from the hall.
Because he was finished and gone when I noticed he had been in my bathroom again, I let it slide, but I feel like he invaded my personal space and I would not allow him in my home again unless I was there.

"I am dissappointed that [member name removed] did not talk to me about these issues she is expressing here... I truely appologize for any "seemingly" invasion of her privacy... I did not realize she had a guest bathroom, I simply found the nearest bathroom available, not realizing she was sensitive to that... If she had told me ahead of time, I would have certainly obliged by her requests, but nothing was mentioned... And I did explain in advance to [member name removed] leaving for vacation, that there would be a chance I would finish (hanging the doors) on that following Monday, and she didn't exhibit any apprehensions about that at all, and was very cooperative with my plans... I also did explain that the fumes are minimum, expecially if she was to be gone from the house during the actual painting. Upon her return, if any fumes were left they were just "residual" and minimal, as I did also explain to her ahead of time... I am dissappointed [member name removed] did not mention any of these issues to me when giving me the final payment, and that she felt necessary to post these on Angie's list before conferring with me about them... Fine Line's service was fantastic. Gerry was friendly and professional, he told us how long the job would take and exactly how much it would cost. He painted each cabinet with one coat of primer and two coats of the paint of our choice. He removed the doors and painted them at his shop. Then, on the last day, he installed the doors with new hinges and drilled holes and installed knobs in the drawers and cabinets.
Our cabinets now look like new! They are beautiful and there is not a drop or a smudge anywhere. Gerry was the ultimate professional. I highly recommend his services for anyone who wants cabinets refreshed at much less cost than refacing.

The owner came and did the work. He did an excellent job. He responded right away. He got it done quickly and cleaned everything up which is always very nice. He was very personable. He was very pleasant, reliable and trustworthy. The quality and price were good. He did a wonderful job. I would use him again in the future.

Cabinets look very nice. Good choice of paint (oil base) reflected in the finish. Although oil base paint is a little inconveinent. A little rushed in final cleanup missed a detail.

"I am always available to come back to a completed project, for any reason, unforseen touch-ups, or "missed details". I am sure it wasn't crucial, as the member would have called me, and I would certainly have responded appropriately. Ironically, the final cleanup was done on a Friday evening at the same time my daughter was in a car accident, but it really didn't interfere with my normal clean up proceedure, although it may have appeared that way... the member and his wife were a pleasure to work for..."
