"Thank you so much for the opportunity to serve you."
"Thank you for your feedback. Our records show that we did 2 inspections/reports for your property related to load-bearing wall removals. For the first inspection/report in 2017 we were hired by you directly, but months later you had your contractor hire us to modify our original remodel plan when a second wall removal was added to the scope. We certainly agree that $845 is a high price for engineering services for this job, but we only charged your contractor $625, which means that if you paid $845 for engineering then they marked up our fee by 35%. Also, we do not typically release our reports or plans until payment has been received as is stated in our contracts. Sometimes when we are hired by a contractor our reports can be delayed if the contractor delays payment for our engineering services. Fee markups and scheduling are some of the reasons why we recommend that homeowners hire their engineer directly and not through their contractor. We hope that this helps bring some clarification and that you might reconsider your low rating. If there is anything else we can do for you please do not hesitate to contact our office. Thank you again for the opportunity to serve!"
"Thank you very much -- we appreciate your business!"
"Thank you very much for your review. Once you've had a chance to look over our report, please do not hesitate to email or call with any questions."
"Thank you Mr. [Member Name Removed]. If your contractor has any questions regarding any aspects of the work, please do not hesitate to have them give us a call -- we're here to help."
"Thank you very much -- I'm sorry we weren't able to deliver the level of confidence you were seeking. As we discussed over the phone, in rare cases some types of repairs are not advisable to make in phases due to the way they change the support for the structure which can induce more serious problems if not all installed at once. Based on our laser level readings, which indicated settlement up to 2" in multiple directions around the perimeter of the home, we do stand by our recommendations. If you have any further questions, or would like to discuss the differences in other recommendations that you've received, we would certainly be happy to do so -- please do not hesitate to give us a call anytime."
"Thank you very much for the positive review -- it was a pleasure working with you."

"Hello Mr. and Mrs. [Member Name Removed], We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention and apologize for the uncharacteristic experience you've had with our services. Upon my review of our company email records, I found that we were slow to provide paperwork for our inspection after your initial request for an appointment. Please accept my apology - we typically provide paperwork and our earliest available appointment the same day as our initial discussion with a potential client. After receiving your signed contract on a Saturday, we performed our inspection that Monday (2 days later). Payment being due at the time of inspection is something that is clearly stated in our 1-page contract. When our clients request that we invoice them for our services, our policy is to notify them that we can accommodate a delayed payment option but that we cannot guarantee a 7 business day turnaround in those cases because we have to give priority to completing reports for our clients who have paid in accordance with the terms of our agreement. The lead technician who performed your inspection does not remember if he specifically asked you for payment on site or not, and I am certainly willing to take your word that he did not request payment on site. Our report was delivered within 10 business days of performing our inspection, and we have not yet received payment for our services. I have provided you with my direct cell phone number via email in hopes we could discuss this matter as we are interested in resolving things in an equitable manner. Please feel free to reach me at your convenience. Thank You, Chuck LaVerdiere, PE"
"Thank you very much -- it has been a pleasure working with you. Please do not hesitate to call us with any additional questions or needs. Best Regards, Chuck LaVerdiere, PE"
Chuck came out and went concern by concern from the inspector's list and assessed each of them. He immediately calmed us. The next day, his report clearly called out the areas of concern and provided prescriptive remediations. What I liked is that the remediations were practical to implement and did not adversely impact some visuals that we were looking to maintain.
While I hope that I will not need their services again, they will go into my list of first call consultants.
