Steve Merrick Expert Painting

Steve repaired, cleaned and re-stained outdoor deck. The home was built in 1920 and needed extensive caulking work, patching and touch up painting. The large front porch and porch deck were also prepped, patched and repainted. He also cleaned my roof and gutters of my two story home and cleaned the large amount of debris. Repaired some loose tiles on bathroom floor and secured some loosened bathroom hardware. Steve was friendly, timely, respectful and efficient. His price quote was competitive but more importantly, he was thorough and was willing to be flexible and do whatever was needed to get the job done! I didn't realize that my gutters and roof where so neglected and having them cleaned prior to the deck painting and cleaning was something that I had overlooked. His ability to be a handyman and do other repairs was also extremely appreciated. The additional repair of loose floor tiles and loose hardware was great to have done at the same time.....hiring Steve is hiring a painter and handyman at the same time. I would recommend and hire him again in a minute!

Steve is an exceptionally good painter, and I am recommending him to everyone I know who needs any painting done. We recently hired him to power wash, caulk, prep and repaint the exterior of our house. He also cleaned and re-stained our deck. He had painted the house 9 years ago and did such a fantastic job, that we called him first this time and didn’t even talk to anybody else about doing the job. And we were just as pleased this time as we were the first time. The house looks fabulous!

• 1. Skill level/Quality of workmanship. Steve truly is an expert who exhibits the highest quality in his work. We have never hired another contractor who is as meticulous and conscientious. He also uses a very high quality Benjamin Moore paint; it actually “glows” when he is finished. And the last time he painted it, the paint held up extremely well; in fact, we weren’t sure the house even really needed re-painting after 9 years, but we didn’t want to wait too long just in case.

  • 2. Professional and Dependable. When Steve says he will be there to work, he shows up. You can count on him working hard and putting in long hours until the job is done. And because he cares so much, he will even return years later to do any touch-up work needed, at no additional cost.

  • 3. Does all the work himself. When you hire most contractors, the owner shows up to scope the job, provide an estimate and close the sale. Then when it comes time for the actual work to begin, a different crew shows up and the owner is usually not around much. This is not the case with Steve; he does all the work himself. He is his own boss, so he does not have to meet the demands of a boss’s time schedule. He has the luxury of taking enough time to ensure that the job is done well. And he gets the job done in a very reasonable time frame.

  • 4. Leaves no mess. Steve is very, very neat and there is absolutely nothing for the homeowner to clean up after he is gone.

  It seems to be getting harder and harder these days to find contractors who are truly committed to doing a great job. Steve is the exception, and because of that, we will always call him first when we need any painting done. So I’m picky, but why should I settle for anything less than the best? The truth is, if I had several estimates from other painters, I would hire Steve even if he was more expensive than the others. Why? Because he is worth it.
