Roofwerks Inc
About us
Roofwerks, Inc. is the creation of Derwin Maness and Will Hayes. They had a vision of creating a top-notch roofing company in North Carolina that installs the highest quality roofing systems, backed by excellent customer service at an affordable price. After a combined 20 years experience with one of the region's largest roofing contractors, the two decided that the Triangle area lacked a truly professional residential roofing contractor. There are far too many "pick-up truck contractors" and roofers that are either uninsured or carry insurance for another trade such as vinyl siding or masonry. This leaves the homeowner vulnerable to expensive lawsuits if a worker is injured or property is damaged. Roofwerks is fully insured for roofing – new roof construction, roof repairs, roof maintenance and reroofing - and is a licensed general contractor. "Unfortunately, this job did not get off to a good start and weather delays caused it to go longer than either party expected. Fall weather in the triangle can be unpredictable, making it difficult to plan renovations. Roofwerks ordered Georgetown Gray shingles from one of our distribution partners. However, Charcoal shingles with Georgetown Gray accessories were delivered to the job. Neither us nor the homeowner discovered this mistake until the second day of the job. Once we discovered the problem, I immediately called the homeowner to discuss the situation and come up with a solution to their satisfaction. I offered to significantly discount the installed shingles OR to replace them with the correct color at our expense. The homeowners chose the option to replace the shingles with the correct color rather than to accept the discount. Once the job was completed the homeowner inquired about further discounts in addition to correcting the mistake at our expense. I have personally reached out to the homeowners regarding the damages and offered to correct any items with no response. We fully stand behind our work and attempted to resolve any issues in a fair manner."
A small leak showed up around the stove vent pipe. Roofwerks came out, looked over the problem. A piece of flashing needed to be ordered, this was done and the roof was repaired at no charge within a week. Great customer service!
We discussed what I wanted, and he walked around the property and went up on roof. He said he would have an estimate in a few days and he did.
Fred was very responsive to follow up questions, and requested changes to the contract. I wanted a couple of items that they were going to do anyway, written into contract. We realized that we wanted a certain very shallowly sloped section of roof done a certain way, and he rebid it as requested. This allowed us to compare the quotes easily as they were all going to be doing the same scope of work.
He also provided me with 5-6 pages, three columns each, listing previous customers, what shingle/color they had installed and the address. I was able to go see the work they had done. Which all looked great, and it let me know that our original color choice was not what we wanted.
Due to recent inclement weather our original start date got pushed back. Fred was always good to keep me in the loop on any changes. We ended up a week later than originally scheduled. But given the great deal of rain and potential hurricane we had recently I cannot fault them at all.
The workers were great, punctual, worked very, very hard. Did a fantastic job on the roof. It looks great and couldn't be more pleased. They also did a stand alone garage/shed which was part of the quote. I had asked if they had left over shingles if they could leave some of them for my well house, and the guys did it way quicker than I ever could, while cleaning up at the end of the job.
Our first big rainfall happened the day after they finished and it was a relief to not being worrying about where the water would come in next.
My sticker shocked self wanted to give a lower grade on the price, but given the complexity of my roof, and the fact that the other contractors came in around the same price, I can't complain.
would hire and recommend in a second!
