One word: DON’T If you need more information, read on… It all started a month ago, when our LG dryer stopped “heating”. First I called LG, but they couldn’t get a technician out to diagnose the problem till 2 weeks out. And since our household has to do laundry 3-4 times a week, I could not wait that long. So after some research I settled on Mr. Appliance of Raleigh (not to be confused with Mr. Appliance of Wake). He could come out the next day, and at half the diagnostic fee that LG would have charged. So I thought we had a winner. The following day, the technician (Mr. Asok – who is also the owner, receptionist and what not – if you think you get a team at Mr. Appliance of Raleigh, think again. This is a one man show.) came out, and diagnosed the problem as a faulty PCB Assembly Board.. Of course he did not have this on him, and he had to order that (which I completely understood) and it would be a few days. He did request I gave him $150 as a deposit towards the $330 total repair cost. One week goes by, and I hear not a word from Mr. Asok. Finally I give up, and I call him about what the status is. Even though he’s extremely difficult to understand, I make out that his parts store is out of stock and that now we’re looking at 2 weeks out for delivery. I ask him if he looked at other supply stores, which he had not. So I find the part at Sears, however with the estimated delivery time it would arrive around the same time as Asok’s. I was still under the assumption he had actually ordered the part at this point! Another week goes by, still no word/update from Asok. So, I call again – and again he tells me that the part is still on backorder. I’m checking his story online, and indeed all the previous supply, now seems to be all backordered included the Sears one. Mind you, had we ordered it that week before, we would have had the part by now. Asok blames South Korea, and the impending “trade war” caused by Trump (I was not going to even argue with him that S. Korea had nothing to do with this “war”). Exasperated I hang up, but then I find the needed part on E-Bay. So, of course I order that part and pay for expedited shipping. A few days later the part arrives, and I arrange for Asok to come by and install it. After about 15 min. he tells me that now something else does not work. So, in his opinion the board that got delivered has to faulty (is it that or did he misdiagnose the problem? I guess we’ll never know for certain). After jumping through some hoops, I was able to return the part to the seller though. Meanwhile Asok tells me that the supplier should have the part next week. Guess what? Another week goes by and again no update from him. Call him again, asking him for an update. He tells me again, his supplier does not have the part. While I have him on the phone, I ask him if he checked out another supplier (who happens to be the East Coast parts store for LG!) who appears to have the part. He goes online (supposedly) while we’re on the phone and sees they have indeed have it and tell me he’ll order it and have it by the end of the week (Friday). Yea!! Friday comes and goes… Saturday…. Nothing. I call him AGAIN on Monday and ask him, WTH? He tell me, delivery got moved out but he does not know. At this point I just want to strangle him through the phone but I keep my cool as good as I can and ask him politely to give me an update that day on what we can expect. Not a call from him that day. I text him that evening, sharing my exasperation but still nothing. It’s been two days and he has fallen off the map. Meanwhile, I ordered the part from Sears and will have it in my hands tomorrow. Now I just need to figure out how to install it. Maybe I’ll call Mr. Appliance of Wake – But I will never call Asok/Mr. Appliance of Raleigh ever again and I recommend neither will you. Apparently he’s good in taking your money, but he shows no interest, follow through and/or initiative in resolving your issue. Had I not given him a deposit (that I can kiss goodbye), I could have gone with someone else weeks ago and could have gotten it fixed. Do yourself a favor – and stay away from this “company”.
