My wife and I had been thinking of buying a house for a while but thought that we couldn't secure financing for a decent house, especially since we couldn't provide a down payment or cover closing costs. My cousin recommended that we speak to a friend of his who is in realty to see what might be possible. That's when we met Mike LaRue of LaRue Realty. He crunched some numbers and figured out that we could leverage the first time home buyers tax credit as our down payment and that given our incomes we could actually afford to look at a much nicer range of houses than we had thought. Mike put together a list of houses for us. At each house he took notes on what we liked and what we didn't. Each new batch of houses we visited had more and more of what we liked until on our third outing we arrived at our current home. We made our offer on the house and Mike was able to negotiate a great deal for us where the seller covered all of the closing costs and also paid to have some bad drainage (too much rain produced a moat around the house) taken care of. I don't usually rate anyone A's across the board but Mike deserves it. Because of Mike we were able to buy our first home with no money down and no closing costs at a much lower net cost than we had thought possible. He's low on flash and high on ability. I still call Mike with any new home owner questions I have and he's always happy to help. I highly recommend his services to anyone looking for a house in or around Raleigh.
