Piano Tuning
Mr. Kalnin turned a piano that I inherited since the early 90s. The last time he turned the piano was during the national healthcare debate. Mr. Kalnin began a strongly politically-charged conversation regarding this topic, which was highly unprofessional.
He did apologize at the end, but the damage was done. I have since hired another tuner and am highly satisfied with the workmanship, without the political rhetoric.

Piano Tuning
I am not an expert at piano tuning, but I believe Mr. Kalnin knows exactly what to do. The piano sounds beautiful and is played 4-5 times per week.

Piano Tuning
I called Mr. Kalnin because I wanted not merely tuning, but experienced advice. I needed an expert, disinterested opinion as to the whether the piano was worth the investment(I expected to pay for that assessment, whether or not we decided to recondition the piano). I sensed that Mr. Kalnin advised me honestly. His price for the work was somewhat higher than I had hoped to pay and I suspect that someone else might have done it for less, but his experience and advice added considerable value. In every aspect of the transaction, his performance was exemplary. He called when he said he would call; he came when he said he would come; the work was done when he said it would be done; the cost was exactly as estimated; the piano was restored to the condition he had told me to expect. Furthermore, he was a pleasure to have in my home. If you need a simple tuning or even some remedial work on a piano, there are probably many competent technicians who can do the job, undoubtedly some who would do it for less. But if you need experience and expertise and an enjoyable professional relationship, you would do well to engage Mr. Kalnin. I look forward to seeing him again.

Piano Tuning
Mr. Kalnin did a great job. The piano hadn't been tuned or maintained in over 20 years. He came to do an inspection and give an estimate. We agreed, so he took the "guts" out of the piano back to his shop, where he reshaped the hammers and regulated, tightened, and lubricated the action. He brought it back 9 days later and reinstalled it all. He tuned it a 1/2 tone. The piano now sounds and feels great. He also gave us some good advice on maintaining it. He's also a really nice man.

Piano Tuning
A colleague recommended Mr. Kalnin when my mother gave me her old studio Baldwin (my dad gave her a baby grand). He has been coming to my home every year or so for the past 15 years to help me take care of my heirloom!
