It went fine. I would give them an A. They specialize in Toyota's. They do as good of a job as the dealer does but they're cheaper.

He was honest and an upfront guy. I liked the people that worked with him.

Fortunately time was on his side as the car doesn't get driven on cold, hot or rainy days nor does it get driven Monday-Friday. He and his professionals took took their time and installed the new engine working around the needs of his other customers and while waiting upon additional parts as they came in, usually his suggestions to improve durability and longevity of the vehicle and not just to and quot;Go Fastand quot;. He is extremely knowledgeable with performance vehicles and continually improved the process and my understanding of how the engine should be installed for the best results based upon my application and wants. I am very pleased with the results and believe this is due to him. I will continue to bring the Cobra to Jon West Auto for all its needs.

John is our go-to auto mechanic and we have recommended him to all of our friends. We have two cars with over 200k miles each and he keeps them in good working order. He is honest and trustworthy, so you know he is never going to sell you something you don't need or overcharge you for parts or labor. We had some bad experiences with other mechanics before we found John, so it's real peace of mind that we know we can trust him. Your car is in good hands with him and his staff.

I recommend them. I've gone to them for major repairs, and everything I've needed. I've dealt with them for 25 years. The thing that really stands out about them, is you could eat off the floor of the shop. I give him A's all the way down the line.

I have been meaning to write a review of this place for a while because the service was outstanding. The check engine light had come on in my car and I took it to John West Auto which is close to where I work. I had never been there before but heard good reviews through word of mouth. The garage was incredibly clean and the staff was friendly, often I would deal with Mr West or a friendly receptionist. I left my car with them and they ran some tests and determined what they thought was causing the problem. Mr West felt like it could be caused by something that was going wrong with an O2 censor (disclaimer, these services were performed months ago and I don't know much about cars so I could be remembering the exact details of the parts incorrectly) Throughout the entire process Mr West kept me informed about the cost and what he was planning to do. He said he was hoping that it was just the censor and not the catalytic converter but he warned me that it was possible it could be that. He fixed the O2 censor and the engine light went off but then came on again the next day. I called Mr West back and he said to bring in my car, he was able to see me right away. Having to work I dropped off my car again (side note- the garage offered to drive me back to my work- no charge) They tried some more things and Mr West drove the car around himself testing it out. They determined that it was the catalytic converter and it would need to be replaced. He offered me 3 different options and pricing, with different parts and methods of attaching the converter (welding or bolting) I chose the middle option which is the one Mr West suggested and he didn't charge me for labor, just for the parts! Also just to make sure that indeed the catalytic converter was the problem for the check engine light, he installed the new part and told me to drive around on it for a week and make sure that the problem was solved. He said he would keep my old converter and if the light came back on in the car in the next week to bring it back and he would take out the new converter, reinstall the old one and then they would take it from there. He did not ask me to pay for the new converter until we were sure that was the problem. I drove the car around for a week and the light did not come back on again. The problem was solved! I went back to the shop and paid for the part.
Overall my experience with this shop was outstanding. I recommend this Auto Shop to all my friends and coworkers and I honestly felt like I was being treated like family when I was there. I do not often have problems with my car but if I ever do again I know immediately where I will take it. If you live in Raleigh you should look no further for a mechanic!

Very professional and does great work. Very clean garage and reputable. Been to him 3 or 4 times in the past 4 years. Would not go to another mechanic.
