"Thank you! I enjoyed helping you and making your table beautiful for you. I am here if you need me again. Jeff"
I contacted Jeff by email and requested a quote and he suggested I send him pictures of the glider from every angle including up close pictures of how it was put together so he could determine whether it would fit in his sand blasting equipment, and he determined that it would. He provided a quote as well as some options to reduce the cost and I decided to go with his original quote. It ended up being just a little more than the quote because of the cost of the replacement parts and Jeff still ended up being over his budget on this piece because he cares about providing quality services at a reasonable price to his customers.
I was able to deliver the glider and pick it up to avoid any pick-up and delivery fees which helped on the price. When I picked it up Jeff assisted with loading it on my truck and securing it to avoid damage in transit and even provided a blanket (which I had forgotten to bring to cover it).
I am very happy to have the glider restored and am using it on my screened porch and enjoying all the wonderful memories it invokes.
Thanks, Jeff, for making that possible! I'm already talking with Jeff about restoring a cabinet that my Grandfather made.
The item fell on the floor shattering the arm. I could not locate all of the pieces so Jeff had to repair and carve a piece to fit. Moreover, he had to paint the arm and other make other paint repairs to exactly match the rest of the piece.
It is impossible to even see where the repair was made! Jeff is a true artist and I am so glad I was able to get one of my favorite art pieces repaired like new.
I was so pleased with his work, that I returned today with a repair on a ceramic art piece.
grandfather's. It had fallen into disrepair. I was able to send him
pictures of the piece via email to show him what work needed to be done. I only give a and quot;Band quot; for the price because there was
a $150 delivery fee and a $150 pick up fee, for a total of $300. This
seemed steep to me, and if I could have fit the piece into my car I would have been able to save this cost. However, the delivery guy, and quot;Tonyand quot;, was very professional and was on time. No damage to the furniture in the transport.
Jeff updated me via email of the progress of the
restoration. He was flexible with my budget, providing several options
that I could choose from to keep the costs down (ie did I want it fully
restored, repaired to a functioning level, or somewhere in between?). I
opted for somewhere in between. This included a re-lacquering on the
piece, as well as repair of the broken legs and drawers on the
secretary. Also included installation of missing hardware that looks
like the original hardware. I could not be more pleased with the way everything turned out. Apparently it was getting a lot of compliments from visitors to his shop. I would use Jeff again, but would try to avoid the $300 delivery charge by taking the piece myself.
We moved in the middle of the refinish job, and Jeff was willing to keep the piece for an extra week or two so that it didn't have to be moved twice. He even provided me with some information about the furniture, such as where it came from and when it was made. I am looking forward to enjoying the secretary for many years to come. I would use Jeff's services again.
Not only would we go back to him again, but now that the holidays are over, we are going back -- will be taking two more of the chairs in the set for some repairs as well.
These chairs are not especially valuable, but they are part of a large set of furniture that has seen heavy use in four generations of our family. It was a somewhat agonizing decision as to where to take them. But I sent Jeff pictures of the damaged Crest rail via email and he responded within a couple of hours with a detailed guess as to what it would take and a price range. I was impressed immediately, and not disappointed. And again, great work, done faster than promised and well within his estimate.
We complained to the moving company and sent pictures of the work. Some damaged areas were not addressed at all. Many scratches / gouges were merely colored and not filled.
The bent hinges for the leaf were not straightened and the leaf was no longer at the same level as the table. The leg was repaired but the table was very wobbly. I had to correct this by performing some serious tightening of the leg bolts.
Mr Johnson's reply to my complaints were basically a defense of what he had done and that if I was not satisfied I should talk to the moving company.
He also stated that the reason he did not provide a quote for the additional work was that ,and quot;I prefer to keep settlement repairs and residential repairs as separate transactions to avoid any confusion as to which party is paying for what repair.and quot; He also stated that he opted not to perform additional repairs due to the nature of the table construction which limits the amount of stripping, sanding, and other work that can safely be done to the top. Why the heck didn't he tell me that in the first place instead of agreeing to do it when he took the table?
After all this, we ended up throwing the table away.
"There are several points to clarify...the member was not a customer of mine. Since I was not hired by the member nor was I paid by the memeber for any work I would like his review removed. The moving company that moved member was my customer and he was their client. All work that was performed was done under the direction and the parameters given to me my customer, the moving company claims department, not the member. This work was part of a claim dispute/settlement between the member and the moving company claims department. This work was done nearly a year ago so one has to question the timing of this review by the member. I was retained by the moving company to repair new transit related damages only, not to refinish a 30 year old table with significant amounts of pre-exisitng normal wear and tear not caused by his most recent move. The table the member is discussing was a heavily used kitchen/dining table with a considerable amount of normal tear and wear throughout in the form of nicks, scratches, water marks, etc. The table was at least 20 years old and probably closer to 30 years old. The scope of work that I was hired to do by the moving company was limited to new transit related damages, which I repaired. I have photographs of the damages that the member subsequently sent to the moving company along with his complaint that they were not repaired, and it was my determination along with the adjusters handling his claim that the additional damages he thought should have been repaired were typical of what is considered normal wear and tear for an old table that is used daily. This is why those damages were not repaired. If necessary, I can share before and after photos, including the photos submitted by the member after the work was completed to show the trivial nature of the damages he felt should have been completed."
"Thank you for the kind words. We always strive to provide a premium service experience for our clients! Jeff"
