About us

Passion: that for which you have boundless enthusiasm. My first passion is my family, Leonette, my wife, Kristyn, my oldest daughter, and Brooklynn, my youngest. Leonette and I are high school sweethearts. Our first date was the Junior/Senior Prom my Junior year. We were married on February 14th and have been married for over 30 years. Collective “Awww, how sweet.” Photography has been my passion for over 35 years. In February of 2011, I opened a photography studio in Raleigh, NC, and began my new career as an entrepreneur. People often ask me what it is about photography that excites me. It has always been easy to answer that question. “It is capturing the moment.” When shooting on location, I cannot wait to get back to my computer to download the images. Did I get the moment(s)? Sometimes the moment isn't what I expected it to be for technical or compositional reasons. Other times, my personal sense of satisfaction soars. I have just captured a moment in time that will never been seen again except through my vision. In studio, I shoot tethered directly to my computer and wait with anticipation for every image to load. Family portraits, corporate portraits, bridal portraits, engagement portraits, newborn portraits, senior portraits, pet portraits, corporate events, wedding events, reunion events, sport events – all have moments that will be lost forever, unless I capture them. Gary Adkins Photography — Studio, Location, Gallery, and Print My gallery includes many years of my photographic works -- most of which I have printed myself. Stop by and pick out some photography décor or commission a photo for your home or office. My studio and gallery is approximately 900 sq ft with plenty of room for my studio equipment and props. It includes a changing room immediately adjacent to the studio area. I also print enlargements on a variety of papers including canvas (in color!). I have a large format digital printer capable of producing museum quality prints. Keeping my printing in house allows me to turn your prints quickly and to control quality. My process includes the use of color calibration tools.

I am located just off Glenwood Avenue in the same shopping plaza as the Duraleigh Road Wake County Library. My posted hours are 10-5 weekdays, 11-3 on Sat and by appointment on Sunday. Appointments are also available for anytime during the week including before and after posted hours. Given the nature of on location sessions, I may not always be able to keep these hours so it is best to call me first.
