WE ARE CONCRETE AND MASONRY SPECIALISTS Our excellent reputation and long list of satisfied clients attest to our superior craftsmanship, attention to detail, honesty and integrity. We have been serving the Triangle since 1994.
The initial conversations went well and Kostas was very prompt before we told him we would like to use him. Initially over the phone, we were quoted $1300 for a 300sf patio. A month, plus went by and he came to our house to see the area. Then we were quoted $2400. Then he dropped it to $2200 after we told him about the earlier contact. Finally, after we sent him the voicemail, he came down to $2000. As soon as we locked in Kostas, his responsiveness went down significantly. When we asked questions or questioned what he would/was doing, we did not get a professional response. He seemed irritated or annoyed. It almost felt like we were bothering him by asking simple questions about this $2000 project we were paying for. The patio was poured on schedule. We questioned the height in some areas where the land had not been built up. We measured and had to push him to build up the area. He wanted the patio to follow the normal slope of the land. We had to insist he raise the border up over 2 inches on the far corner so the patio wouldn't slope too steeply. We should not have had to push as hard as we had to to make this happen. We asked if we could curve the patio more. He did it, after more struggle with a discussion over this. Note: this was not a language communication issue. Patio was dug in one day and poured another day. Concrete was poured into wheelbarrows and carried to the back of the house. Kostas and his employees worked hard, taking very few breaks. The patio was sprayed down the day of initial pour and the following day when he removed the forms. We were told that should be enough. We spoke to another concrete specialist (a friend) who told us we should keep it wet for a week. Same specialist also told us not to put anything onto the patio for 1 week. The patio has been in place for a few weeks now. We have found that the control joints in the concrete are not perfectly straight. The concrete is also lumpy in places. You can physically feel areas where it slopes downwards, you can also feel lumps in the concrete in areas. It does drain away from the house but there is one area in the middle where water puddles after rain due to the new patio being higher than the old patio. There also is flaking in the areas where the picture frame edging was done. We wouldn't use Kostas again due to responses to our requests and finished product. The patio does not look great if you look closely at it. We are disappointed with the final project. Note: When he came by for the final payment, we gave him a W2 for the work and were told that if he had known we were going to report the work, he would have charged us more.
Description of Work: Extended a concrete patio. Left current 10x10 patio in place. Added 350sf of concrete around it.

We had a bathroom remodel done by ReBath and a window was replaced in the process. Kostas was the contractor they used to replace the outside hardy plank siding and the window trim. He was very professional, thorough and did an outstanding job of matching the existing siding on our house. Because of his carpentry skills no one can even tell where the work was done. It looks great and we would highly recommend him for any kind of construction work.
Description of Work: He replaced the outside hardy plank siding and replaced the window trim for our new bathroom window.
