I hired Express Bath to remodel our bathroom. This was to include removing the existing shower/tub, flooring, vanity, lighting, mirror, toilet and towel racks. In turn we were to get a new shower with a glass door, new vanity, and a marble counter top. I was to supply new mirrors, a toilet, new lighting, flooring and towel racks. They would be installed for us.The first day of work, two gentlemen from Uruguay removed the vanity, toilet, old flooring and shower/tub. They told me it was their first job working for Don. The second day, after a late start, the shower and vanity were installed. We were happy with the looks of both. I told Don that since we were redoing the floor in the bathroom, how about he give me a quote to do the bedroom as well. We never got to that point. The third day, nobody showed up. I called Don and he said they couldn't do any more work until the vanity counter was ready and installed. I asked when that would be and he said in a few days. A few days later I called him again and he said it would be ready by the end of the next week. This was annoying, as we couldn't use the bathroom without the shower doors, mirrors or toilet. It was at this point I told Don to forget about doing the bedroom floor, just get the bathroom finished. The following week the counter top was installed, which took about 35 minutes. But no other work was done. The following day Don showed up with his guys and said the job would be complete by the end of that day. I was relieved and looking forward to it finally be finished. It was at this point Don said yep, all you'll need is a shower curtain. I thought I was going to have a stroke. He insisted he never said he was putting in a glass door for the shower. That was one of the selling points to getting this job done. The gentlemen from Uruguay came to me around 2 and said, "We're done." I went to see my newly remodeled bathroom only to see no toilet, no mirrors, no new flooring. They apologized, but said they were only doing what Don told them to do. Obviously I wouldn't recommend Express Baths. I would stay as far away from them as possible. But I must admit to a few things I did wrong. First, I paid him for all but $1000.00 for an $18,000.00 job, Error number 2, the contract, which there wasn't one. When I contacted Don about my displeasure in his work, he kept saying he stood by his contract. Error number 3, I trusted him to do a good job, even when my wife and dog didn't like the guy. I might not always trust my wife's instincts, but I should have trusted my dog. I hope my gut wrenching experience helps you avoid making the same mistake I did.
