Custom Creative Tile

It went very slow! He and his helper kept going to the street to take phone calls. They were in our home for around 8 hours just removing a back splash. At the end, he gave us a revised increased price and he said it was partially due to all the hours he spent here. The day he removed the back splash, we understood that he would prep the wall for the new back splash. He didn't do that. He just left that. He made excuses and said it was because it was put up with the wrong material. He said the tile we had was too thin so we had to buy thicker tile. We did that. So he came back the 2nd day and prepped the wall. He was here a couple hours and did most of it and left again. The last day he came back and put up the tile. I looked at the tile and it was wet so I didn't know how it was going to look. We asked the price of how much more we owed and he increased the price of the whole job by $250. He said it was due to him prepping the wall which we feel should be part of putting up the tile. We never got a contract which we had asked for multiple times. We had given him our email to send the contract. He was going to charge us another $75 to put the outlet covers on, just to screw them on. We have at least 7 outlets in which one he filled with grout.
