I took my 2003 Chevy Suburban to Bayleaf because the car was idling rough and had stalled while driving it 3 times in the past two weeks. On Sunday I had driven the car for 16 hours from Maine to Raleigh, because of the issues I was having I paid very close attention to all the gauges as I drove. The car performed very well except for stalling once. I got a call from Bayleaf with the results of their initial test and was told that within a mile of them driving the car it overheated. Amazing since the day before it drove for 16 hours without ever getting above normal temperature. I was also told that the engine had a misfire on Bank 1, and after a test the compressions on several cylinders were around 50 or 60 psi. I picked up the Suburban and have taken it to two different places and was told the same thing, the compression on all cylinders were well over 150 psi, and that the only thing that needed to be done was to clean the throttle body. The Suburban is back and running great with a fix that was under a total of $500 instead of an estimate of well over $3000.

I'd had enough, and didn't have Bayleaf replace my struts and mounts and alignment. I took my car elsewhere to a place that charged me $150 less for that work than Bayleaf was going to charge. I was particularly galled that Bayleaf was going to charge me for the realignment, as I wouldn't have needed that done again if they'd diagnosed the problem correctly to begin with. In summary, Bayleaf charged me almost $1,000 for work that may not have been needed, were planning on charging me nearly another $1,000 for more work to fix the problem they didn't correct the first time, including for work they had to redo (the alignment) because of their misdiagnosis, and were not responsive to my need to get the car back in a timely manner. Bayleaf is very convenient for me, as I live within walking distance, but I won't ever take my car to them again. There are other places that will fix your car for a lower cost, more competently, who take responsibility for their mistakes, and who do care about keeping you as a customer. Bayleaf does not.

I have a jeep with the notorious sunroof drain problems. Several dealerships quoted $100 - $300 over the phone (given this is a very common problem with jeeps, I didn't think it was necessary for them to look at to give quote). The dealerships justified the costs indicating they had to remove the headliners to access the drains and that simply blowing compressed air through them (as some friends of mine with auto repair experience had suggested) could cause them to become disconnected.
I'm not sure how Bayleaf did the repair (if it was compressed air or something more invasive as the dealerships explained was necessary), but it was certainly effective as there were no more leaks with the next rain storm. I'm hoping I don't have to do this again, but since that is unlikely (this is the 3rd time in 5 years, first time since warranty expired), I wil certainly return to Bayleaf.
I have read in past reviews that they don't allow waiting. I don't believe that is true. I didn't wait this time, but have in the past (2009). They have a few chairs in their customer service area (kind of like a Jiffy Lube, not a separate waiting area like a dealership). And while I was checking out this time, I saw a sign indicating they have wi-fi. I'm not sure if they had that when I waited in 2009 and since I didn't wait this time, I can't confirm that it was active.

Reception lady answered the phone quickly and was cordial. Approximate cost for the oil change service was competitive for garages $30 to $40. They seem to use good quality oil but the filter type was of marginal quality (she seemed very unclear on the line of oil filter used). I asked if I could provide my own oil and/or filter and I was told that they would resist doing that (the only place I have heard of that would not allow it for an oil change). I was also told they ONLY do drop off service and would NOT provide an oil change service while you wait EVEN with a scheduled appointment - this is the only place outside of an actual dealership I have ever contacted or worked with in 20yrs that had such a policy. Anyway, given the generally favorable reviews on Angies List I might have pushed the filter issue and still used them but not being able to wait for a routine oil change service was the final straw for me since I have no other options for transportation. I think they may want to reconsider some of the policies/practices to be more customer friendly in keeping with competitors.

There was recently an ownership change at Bayleaf, but I have to say that this was by far the best service I have had at an auto repair location. Based on reviews I know that the prior owners were very good - and have to say that the new ones are just as great. I have recommended this location to my neighbors and feel confident that they will also receive great service at reasonable prices. For once I do not feel like I was overcharged for the work that had to be done on my vehicle.

Vehicle was making front end noises. Scheduled an appointment with Bayleaf and dropped off the vehicle in the early morning. Received a call from Linda by mid-morning with estimate of repairs and recommended work items. Authorized only the critical work to be done - replace brakes & flush brake fluid (10 year old vehicle), and replace breather hose. Work completed by late afternoon and front end noises have disappeared.

Excellent. Very friendly. Joe is a gentleman with a big smile. They are nearby, so it's nice to have a real mechanic in the neighborhood. I will get my car inspection there too in a couple of weeks.

I made an appointment over the internet, confirmed by phone. The appointment was for 7:30 on a Saturday. The car went in right on time and was finished in 15 minutes. I was expecting to have belts replaced but was told belts were fine, just needed adjustment. Very prompt, friendly service by the owner.

We are happy with the work and plan to return. After the first (planning/diagnosis) visit, a headlight and turn signal that had had problems in the past, no longer worked. But they fixed this problem on the next (repair) visit. When we make the repair appointments in advance, they order parts so the work can be completed in one day.
