Took longer than expected but the finished product was worth it.

Irrigation systems need yearly, if not minor maintenance. Having a provider that has knowledge of the system that was put in to your home, and being able to support that for 9 years is rare. I have always been happy in using AM PM as my irrigation system installer and repair/ maintenance company.

The installation took much longer than we were told and the trenches, especially in the front yard, are much wider than the 6 inches we were told to expect - our front yard currently is a mud pit. The phone is never answered when you call - you have to leave a message and wait for a call back. When I voiced concern at how long the job was taking, I was told that it was my fault for taking too long to return the forms (I had them 3 or 4 days - we had to have the forms notarized so I could not get them completed the day we received them - their records show that I had the paperwork on the 24th when the handwritten note explaining what needed to be filled out was DATED on the 24th), and the Town of Cary's fault because they take 6 -7 weeks to install the meter not the 3 weeks we were originally told. I was expecting an apology and reassurance that the job would be completed as soon as possible, not to be told it was my fault. So, regardless of what they tell you, expect at least 2 months for the job to be completed. It is a shame because the gentleman who installed the controller was very good and helpful. But, truthfully, with as many companies out there that install irrigation systems in the area, I would recommend that you do not go with AM PM Irrigation just so you do not have to deal with their customer service representative. I am glad that the job is complete but I hope we do not have any issues. If I do, I will probably hire another company to fix, instead of asking AM PM Irrigation to honor the 1 year warranty they offer. I am sure that regardless of the problem, I will be told that it was our fault and not covered by the warranty.

So far the system is working as promised. If it wasn't for having to deal with the customer service representative, this company might have received a B+ and recommendations to friends and family.

Update - May 2012 - After using the system a few times this season we had a leak. Water was rushing out of one of the pipes. AMPM Irrigation was contacted and promptly came out and fixed the leak.

Estimate was easy and the owner took his time discussing options and why(s).

They started when they said they would. Finished when the said they would.

Good job with work and interfacing with out other work crew. Concerns over the system design, which uses zones that cross from full sun to full shade. In hindsight, I wish they had planned that better with a shade zone, then a sun zone, so we could more evenly water the lawn. In July we were having to underwater the full sun and flood the shade sections. They came out months later and fixed a defective head. Some of the access panels are really too high, but overall a job well done.

Showed up as scheduled, crew was polite, cleaned up, instructed on programming the system, adjusted nozzles until the irrigation worked properly. Owner was on the site every day. Explained winter shutdown proceedure. Was very conscientious and honest about everthing including costs.

They were very friendly and punctual. The price was very fair for the work they did. Everything now works perfectly!
