I had locked myself outside my place. I didn't have my phone with me to check on Angie's list, so I used a neighbor's phone and called the closest locksmith. The person came out within 30 minutes and was able to get me into my place in about a minute. I had tried to ask him how much the service was over the phone, but he had another call and rushed me off the line. The original charge for unlocking my front door was $180.00. The most he would take off was $15.00. I'm grateful that he came out relatively quickly and got me in, but never would have expected a bill that high. I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Description of Work: I had locked myself out of my condo. They came out to unlock the front door.

I got locked out of my house AGAIN! I searched google for a nearby locksmith and found A Carolina Locksmith. Greg arrived 12 minutes after I called and let me back into my house. He presented me with a bill for $125 which I laughed at because it took him 5 minutes to pick the lock and 12 minutes to drive over to me. That was double the price of the guy I called last time for the same amount of time. I think he understood what I thought of his price so he offered to fix my deadbolts (they were hard to lock) and resecure the faceplate so it would be more secure. He also lubed up the locks because I was having some trouble inserting the key. After he did all of this, the $125 number seemed more reasonable but still high. $125 just for letting someone into their house is a ludicrous price. I would use him again but not for a simple lockout. I would recommend trying to get an estimate over the phone.
Description of Work: Picked the lock because I was locked out, fixed deadbolts

We hired A Carolina locksmith to install an Schalge deadbolt on a door in our home. The work was done and the actual lock install is perfect. I asked for an additional 4 keys for this lock. In my experience, locks come with two keys so I expected to have a total of 6 keys (two originals and four copies). After Greg left, I checked the keys and I had 6 keys and had been charged for 6 keys. I called Greg and said that he had made two extra copies of the keys and the originals were missing. He said that the lock did not come with keys and I had to pay for all 6. What he said was so ridiculous I still can't believe he said that. The receipt clearly says a Schlage lock was installed. However, inspection of the lock reveals that it is not a Schlage but a no-name brand lock that I priced at Lowe's for half of what Greg charged me for the "Schlage". When I called to discuss this with him, he refused to acknowledge that he installed a cheaper lock. This guy was dishonest on every aspect of the job and I would never use him again nor would I recommend him to anyone. He walks around offering unsolicited "security" advice but that is a poor substitute for doing the work he was hired to do!

Description of Work: The locksmith was very prompt,he called me to let me know he was on his way to my home. He rekeyed 4 doors and made key sets. He offered to fix one of my doors saving me calling a carpenter. He offered me extra security tips. Overall a really good job!

I called A Carolina Locksmith after another locksmith (Marshall's) was a no-show. The gentleman showed up within 15 minutes of my call and had the door open in 30 seconds. He was very polite and professional -- definitely knew his business. I told him about the other company not showing up. He had a great opportunity to say something negative about a competitor, but he took the high road and did not. I was impressed. I thought the service was a little pricey, but found that it was competitive with others. Thanks, A Carolina!
Description of Work: They unlocked an interior door between the garage and kitchen after I locked myself out.
