I'm typically the last person to complain, so you can be sure that my experience with 1st Choice has been miserable at best.
I was not happy at all with their service at all. Initially things seemed good. Our initial meeting and selection process went very well. Good information, recommendations and help with the kitchen plan and cabinet selections. We thought this was a good sign.First problem arose with the hardware. We didn't initially select hardware, but made it clear we would come back. I had several back and forth emails on styles, price etc, but when finalized my selection the sales rep stated we were too late to get the hardware with our installation. Yes, I may have moved slow, but why correspond with me for a week or more and not state we were approaching a deadline? I ordered my own hardware and even though it arrived in time, they didn't install it and when I inquired if they planned to come back and finish it, they said they'd do it for $150 service fee. My contractor handled it for us for free and purchasing the hardware online saved me a couple hundred dollars over their cost...so I actually ended up better off...just unfortunate that poor service got me there.
Another issue was the pantry cabinet...this was, by far the most expensive single piece of the installation and they failed to mention that the cabinet didn't come with adjustable shelves (can't even fit a box of cereal on the main shelves...not much good). This is something that should absolutely been disclosed upon selection...makes me assume they don't know their product very well. When I inquired...you guessed it...not their issue. I guess its buyer beware...don't relay on the "experts".
I could have dealt with both of those issues but the overall install was poor at best. Several mistakes that were very visible and should have been fixed immediately. Wobbly shelves, doors that didn't open correctly, and nicks and scratches in several places. There was absolutely no follow up to schedule a walk through to discuss the install and we had to inquire multiple times to try and get some resolution...they still failed to fix all of their mistakes.
It seems I was an after thought once the cabinets went in...no one came out to walk through and do a punch list...we emailed a couple times and spoke on the phone once about the issues. They fixed a couple items but several items remained undone and given that the install was in January and we're now in April, my contractor has decided to just get it done with his folks instead of waiting any longer.
Maybe this was just small job to 1st Choice, but its huge to me and spending $9500 only to end up dissatisfied with the result is discouraging.
They had a bigger varieties of cabinets; lot of different lines there. I like the guy that did the work for me. I felt like I got more value for my money with them. They cleaned up after themselves.
