The skylight doesn't leak now and the worker was meticulous in finding potential future leaks. He sealed all the problem areas with silicone caulk.

Had John Criner replace the roof shingles on my Outer Banks beach house in Corolla around January 2010. Price for work was reasonable. Materials were good quality and available at Home Depot. John Criner outsourced the work to an independent contractor. After the work was completed, I had another contractor replace the exterior siding and trim on my house. While removing the trim, they observed that the roof plywood sheathing in places was rotten and should have been replaced by the roofing contractor. I contacted John and together we inspected the roof sheathing. He agreed that the roof sheathing should have been replaced by his contractor and that he would take care of the repair. Months passed and no repairs were made. He ignored my calls and his receptionist was no help. Eventually hurricane Sandy (2012) passed about 100 miles off the coast of North Carolina and caused some shingles to blow off my roof in the area with the rotten sheathing. I called John Criner's office, explained my history, and was quoted a price of about $250 for an estimate of repairs. I also received a long list of excuses like hurricanes were not covered in the roof warranty even though we did not have hurricane force winds on the Outer Banks and my house was the only one in my community to lose any shingles. And again, his office did not follow up on my request.

This service was quite awhile ago so anything I say needs to be looked at from that perspective. The roof work was terrible. The work was done by Mexican labor who probably knew about as much about roofing as i do. At one point I had to stop the job cause all of the shingles were so far out of line it was amazing! I mean there had to be six inches variation in the plumb line. That being said, they did rip them up and replace them. Ultimately, my roof does not leak, but they ended up putting a nasty gutter block over one of my sky lights cause they messed up the seal during the roofing install. I certainly hope this company has figured out their issues cause they are long time contractors here on the OBX who should deserve a better review than I could ever give them. The job they did for me was terrible. I will never use them again.

Following Hurricane Sandy in October, I noticed several leak stains on my ceilings. This was very distressing to me since I'd recently had some repair work done by a general contractor. It appeared that the work he had done had actually created the problem around some vent collars. Instead of calling back the and quot;generaland quot;, I decided to contact John Criner Roofing. As a real estate agent I was familiar with the work of Criner Roofing. I knew them to be a reputable and quality company. They performed the work beautifully. Their employee arrived at the scheduled time, appeared neat in his dress and professional in his attitude. I was very pleased with his work and will continue to use them for my own repairs as well as recommend them to my clients.

About a week before my business was to open the town of Nags Head required me to install guards and platforms around my exhaust fans. After scrambling to find a reliable company that could help me out quickly without being over charged and taking advantage of, John Criner roofing and remodeling came out the same day I called them and started the following day. The job was finished in three days and we opened on time. A few months later the utility room shed was deteriorating and leaking on my water heater. They came out and fixed it I a timely manor without being over charged. I then had the company refinish my home roof due to a leak. I will never use another roofing or remodeling company other than John Criner. They are reliable, professional and very reasonably priced.
