Everyone in this company is very nice and very professional. They delivered as promised and made this job happen with little to no disruption of our house.
We were so confident that we did not even get a second opinion or price. As a contractor from Los Angeles, I didn't feel that I needed to shop them. I was right.....they are great.
Chrissy is a sweetheart and knows what looks good in your house and doesn't try to up-sell you. Trust her recommendations.
Tile Collection’s bid was competitive and although their original 7 and frac12; week schedule seemed long to us we gave them the order. The original schedule was revised after the first week’s work as the 2 man tile team was replaced by one man. In the end various other problems and delays stretched the completion date to 10 weeks. Although we had many issues with the way the job was managed we were very pleased with the finished product. About 4 months later several of the floor tiles began to develop a stain near the grout lines We tried all the usual cleaning methods with no luck and emailed Tile Collection asking if they, as tile experts could offer some advice on how to clean the stain. Our contact responded quickly that she would get with the project manager and get back to us. We never heard from them again. I would only be speculating as to why they chose not to respond. FYI - we found that Mr. Clean Magic Eraser and a little elbow grease did the job. With all of that in mind I’ll offer my review and grades.
PROS:
*The in store designer/consultant , Teresa in our case, was professional and knowledgeable. She steered us in the right direction on any number of design choices, was helpful and responsive.
*The professional connections, for example with Ferguson for top grade fixtures, are excellent .
*The sub-contractors used are clean and professional. We never had any hesitation or issues with any of them being in our home.
*They are very good at their core competencies, tile and countertop surfaces.
CONS:
*Management of the process was poor. Delays, understandable in many cases, were responded to by pushing the work schedule back instead of attempting to make up time. On many occasions contractors came to the house with a limited or even incorrect understanding of what needed to be done.
*Communications by the project manager were poor. In fact, he rarely communicated at all unless we asked questions.
*Customer service after the fact was non- existent for us.
I would not hesitate to recommend Tile Collection for the installation of tile or for a new countertop; in other words as a sub contractor to a well managed project. Unfortunately, at least in our case, they just aren’t very good at the overall management of an expensive project.
"Since our company began in 1992, everyone at Tile Collection prides themselves on excellent customer service. We all know the Hughes family, and sincerely value their continued, repeat business with us over the years. We understand their concern with the unforeseen schedule delays on the master bath remodel project. Our ultimate goal is to provide a quality, finished product that our customers will love for years to come. Unfortunately, mistakes do happen and the failure to communicate has left a negative impression with the Hughes family. The lack of response to the grout stain issue was an honest mistake and clearly could have and should have been handled differently, since it slipped through the cracks. We truly regret the Hughes’ were so frustrated they felt they could not reach out to us a second time regarding their issue. They, as do all Tile Collection clients, have a full one year warranty on all materials and labor."
"Our fabrication division strives to meet and exceed client's expectations. This particular countertop material is a man-made product, and unfortunately was on backorder, causing the three week delay. As soon as the material became available, the [member name removed] project became our top priority, hence the installation being the very next day. In hindsight, we should have given other schedule options, instead of trying to rush the project. Our company policy does not allow for discounts due to schedule delays. It is Tile Collection’s ultimate goal to provide a quality, finished product that our customers will love for years to come."
Ashley and Chrissy were great to work with in the design center. My wife and I are very detail oriented. AKA...Type A personalities, and they put up with us.
As a retired Plumbing Contractor from Los Angeles, I know what it takes to be a great service company and they are fantastic.
Now I know why their parking lot is always full of cars. We will definitely use them again.
He immediately went to work and did an outstanding job. The area around
my sink is now repaired and very smooth. I wish I had called long ago!
The job took about an hour and Derrick was very neat and diligent in
getting a perfect outcome.
"[member name removed], We appreciate you taking the time to write this review about your experience with our company. Living in a home that is getting remodeled is a tasking process and it takes a strong team to make it all happen. We are very lucky to have team members like Tammy, and Wendy. Our contractors and partners play a crucial in making the vision into reality. It is customers like you that make all the hard work worth it!"
"Thank you [member name removed] for this feedback! Our company is lucky to have had Teresa on our team for over ten years. She plays a critical role in helping you get the results you want for your home."
We placed a call to discuss our complaints about the project very early in the process with Elaine Cresser, the owner. She came to our house the same day and followed up several times during the followiing weeks to address the problems. While we appreciated her attention, most of the problems that we encountered should never have occurred and were the direct result of poor planning and project oversight/follow up.
The completed bathrooms are fantastic with beautiful tile design and excellent quality installation. Miladin is an artist who takes great pride in his work; Josh is a very diligent and excellent plumber. Karen provided great guidance from a tile design standpoint. However, I would not hire the company as a turnkey remodeling contractor given the logistics issues. There were many other companies and tile providers that were less expensive, so we were disappointed overall given the premium price we paid based on their reputation and representations.
"We apologize for any confusion, but we OWN & OPPERATE our fabrication division. In 2002 we bought the land and built the fabrication shop located at 10901 Office Park Drive Charlotte, NC 28273. The people who were in your home were Tile Collection employees, drive Tile Collection-owned trucks, and cut your stone with our CNC machines. There is NO subcontractor when it comes to your countertops."
