We were contacted by Jennifer via Facebook after posting the review on their site as well. She put us in contact with Kyle who not only adjusted the delivery charges back to where they were quoted, but fixed the overcharges to our credit card for services. ORIGINAL REVIEW --
We searched out several storage facilities and due to the name recognition and convenience we chose PODS to aid us in our move. They picked up our belongings at our apt in Charlotte , NC in February to store in their facility until we were able to find a new home and get moved out of the apartments we were in at the time.
At the time we signed the contract we were quoted a $70 redelivery charge to drop the pod off at our new home once we were ready. That apparently was a crock.
We closed on our new home in Dallas, NC a couple of weeks ago and have finally gotten everything to where we could accept the rest of our belongings. On Monday we logged on to their website and scheduled the delivery for Saturday (tomorrow). We were informed that we would receive a confirmation call one day before hand with the delivery window to expect. We waited and waited and no call. At 8:30 pm we called the company and were told they had no record of the delivery and it would not be delivered on Saturday. (We had unloaders scheduled to arrive to unload the pod). They told us that the soonest we could have it delivered is the following Tuesday and the charge would now be $160 since we were having it delivered to somewhere other than where it was picked up. EXCUSE ME?! what would the point of having you belongings stored for over $200 per month and then delivered to the same location? This was never communicated to us.
We understand that there are issues with computers and something could have happened and the delivery order not go through. But to not have any communication until the night before the scheduled delivery means if there was an issue, as in our case, it is too late to correct. ALSO, the price difference is not okay. If there is the possibility that the charge will differ than that quoted, that needs to be pointed out at the onset of the deal.
This is the last time we will use this company and will make sure everyone else knows to beware.
Ask about insurance which they did not ask me. Preferably DO'T USE THEM.
"Our company drivers park on driveways (both old and new) every day, and if the driveway is constructed properly, there is no damage! We were told, by the customer, to place the PODS on the driveway. This should be a homeowner insurance claim."
