IGC HOME SERVICES
About us
IGC Home Services has been in business since 1997. We pride ourselves on quality and attention to detail. The majority of our business is repeat or referrals. Les Howington, owner of the company is on every job from start to finish, ensuring the project is done by the highest standards and to tackle any issues or necessary changes as they arise. He has employees that specialize in specific areas of home repairs such as trim carpentry, painting, framing or dry walling and provides them with an extensive assortment of professional tools and equipment, including self contained trailers with generators to supply power if necessary. We may be a small company compared to some of the bigger general contractors but that smaller size allows us to have a larger focus on the job at hand and a greater attention to detail. Our guarantee is that we won't leave to start another job until you're completely satisfied with yours. We offer free estimates. Costs are determined by each job. A deposit is required before the project start with the balance due in weekly draws or upon completion. We offer discounts for Angie's list members and seniors. LICENSE #: 0196136 & #: 10-0097123..

Les is a gem of a find He takes his time to review your request, makes a plan and provides a quote. We first hired Lest back in 2011 when he built the most amazing screen enclosed deck on the back of our home. Seriously the best decision and investment for our home! Since then we have reached out to Les for handyman jobs from carpentry touch ups to water damage repair around our windows. Les does exceptional work and the quality speaks for itself because I have never had to call him to come and repair any work he has done. I HIGHLY recommend Les and IGC Home Services. Tel: 803-497-0041 and [email protected].
well crafted. We couldn't be more pleased with the team.
He came out one day (Thursday) and washed the deck and was supposed to come back the next day (Friday) to stain it. He didn't show until late in the afternoon that Friday and the stain did not match. He offered to get more brown added to the stain so it would match and he would come back next week once it was a nice day. The next week it ended up raining a lot and Friday was the first day he was able to come out due to the weather and other jobs. He advised us he would be out on Friday afternoon and he never showed. We called to leave him a msg. but he never responded. He finally called on Monday and advised he would be coming out. We were not going to be home on Monday but he promised to make sure the stain matched or he would not continue. We were not able to get a good look at the finished product until Tuesday and it was a DISASTER! There were runs everywhere. There were places that hadn't even gotten any stain because you could see bare wood. There was stain splatter on our cream siding and our brick foundation. There were many spots on the floor where there was too much stain in one spot and not enough in another spot. It looked TERRIBLE! We contacted Les about this and he became very defensive. He even tried to accuse us of doing something to the deck because he stated he was fine when he left. He didn't leave us any leftover stain so I don't know how he thought we would have done something to it.
We continued corresponding with Les back and forth through several emails. He did eventually offer to come back out and fix it as best he could but only after we took photos of some of the issues and sent those to him. He stated our deck needed to be replaced and most of the issues were because the wood was old. We had previously asked him several times if we needed to replace the decking and he stated it was still good wood and still had a few good years left. We thought this was honorable of him to say that, especially since we probably would have paid him to do the work. As stated, he did eventually offer to rectify the situation but he had already insulted us by this point and had soured the relationship. For someone who is self-employed, some of his responses to us were VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! We advised him we would take care of the situation ourselves even though we didn't feel we should have to. We found it very disconcerting that when we were paying him to do the work in 2009 the work was almost flawless, but when we weren't paying him in 2012, he did less than stellar work. We now have a very large deck that looks worse now than it did before he started the re-do.
We were very unsatisfied with the entire situation and how Les handled things. When we advised we would be writing a review on Angie's list he basically informed us that some people could never be satisfied. We think if anyone is going to get him to do work at their home, they need to think long and hard about it. We would also make sure to be at home when the work is being done so that you can supervise and alert him immediately if there are any issues. Good luck!
"As the member stated in his report, I stained the deck for them in 2009 and gave them a 3 year warranty on workmanship and materials. They were very pleased with the deck after completion. I also discussed with them at that time the issue of whether or not to replace the deck. I informed them that they still had a few years left on the deck and this would most likely be the last time it could be stained and sealed because of the age and wear. The deck also receives sunlight all day long which is the worst enemy of any deck. This will cause any stain or sealant to wear away much quicker. The member called me in 2011 and said the deck stain was failing. I scheduled a time to go and look at the deck and met with her on that day. The stain on the railing was still beading water which means it is still doing it's job but it had several places on the top rail and floor that had begin to wear away. Again, even the manufacturers warranty is limited and states that longevity of the stain is subject to sun and wear. The areas in question were in direct sunlight all day and subject to the most damage. That being said, I still agreed to honor the warranty. I made two attempts to schedule a time and was put off twice by the Smiths. The week I was finally able to stain the deck, we had rain and bad weather. The member called me and ask to reschedule. The weather not only affected her job but also affected my other jobs. When I have rain for four days, I cannot do those jobs I had scheduled for those days all in one day so I have to reschedule jobs in the order I originally had them. The deck has run it's course and needs replacing at this point. As you can see by the pictures, there are vast amounts of large cracks and voids. It is very difficult to get any stain to penetrate evenly with this amount of wear. I informed the member of this on our initial meeting. I regret they are not satisfied and offered to come back and rectify the situation as best I could. I apologized for any inconvenience as well as my apology if I had offended them in any way. Both Members were very rude to me in their emails, once accusing me of intentionally doing shoddy work. I take great pride in my work and feel my ratings and reports over the last 10 years on Angie's list show that. I took that comment personally and responded that I would not have took the time to honor the warranty, pay $150 for stain and take the time to restain the deck at no charge had I not intended to do the job right. The emails from them escalated from there and I made the decision to offer to remedy the situation one last time and further apologized for any remarks or comments that may have offended them. They refused my offer and stated they were going to join Angie's list so that they could post this review. They knew I take my work and my Angie's List reviews very seriously because we discussed this back in 2009 after the initial job when I tried to get them to join, which they never did. Even after this review and personal comments they have made to me and about me, my offer to fix the deck still stands. I'm not sure what else I could do to satisfy them."
We are more than pleased with Les, his team, and his work. I would not hesitate to call him again and highly recommend him!
"The members and their dog Daisy have become part of the IGC family. We have performed several jobs for them over the years and look forward to many years to come. I truly appreciate customers such as these members who are such a pleasure to work for."
"I would like to personally thank Member and his family for their business. Since our initial meeting and hiring us to build a deck, we have performed several other projects for him. He has become a great friend and loyal customer of IGC. I very much look forward to working with him in the future."
