Stay as far away from this company as possible!!!! I have had nothing but issues with this pool since they built it! The quote they give you will not be even close to what you end up spending and and that is the same for the time line. I was quoted right at $80,000 and no more than 4 months, needless to say i spent a lot more and a year!!! This company does not return phone calls or do what they say they are going to do. My pool has now been up and running for 4 months and i have had nothing but problems from it the coloring is messed up and currently changing colors the over flow doesn't work the bubblers are sealed closed when they should be able to be opened to clean, you can only use one feature at a time due to poor planning/design the list goes on and on. If i could go back in time i would have never even built a pool due to how horrible this company is! I am still currently waiting on a call back from there manager who said he was going to call me back and that was over a weak ago and as well had an appointment with me the same day and called me 5 min before he was supposed to be at my home to tell me he wasnt going to make it. This company just is horrible all the way around! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!

The pool has structural issues, and continues to get large cracks and leak. Blue Haven doesn't honor its Life Time Warranty of the pool. Have tried for 3 months to get help. Nothing.
Response from Blue Haven Pools & Spas
"We met with the homeowner last week and came up with a plan to make repairs to the pool that all agreed to. As soon as the homeowners return from their vacation at the end of July, we will begin this work. We have responded numerous times over the years since this pool was built and are honoring the structural warranty with Ms. [Member Name Removed]"

I started out meeting with Kevin, and expressed my concerns about their reviews online at that time. It was early 2016. The contract was signed, and digging for the shell started in April of 2016. I had problems with updates and communication right off the bat. My lot was so narrow, that the shell was poured before construction of a new house. They were then supposed to come back at a later date, closer to house completion, to finish. They left a trench around the pool for plumbing, that was filled with water for 4 months. I sent over 20 emails, 10 texts, and called multiple people to have this ditch taken care of. I had to go up the chain until the GM had someone call me, and come out and fix it. Then in December of 2016 I let them know I was ready for pool completion. After 2 months of ignoring, and again having to call multiple people up the chain, they came and started working again. They originally ran another trench from my house to the pool equipment location. The ditch is still funneling water right to my foundation. I have a sump pump that is going nonstop to remove the jet of water, aimed right at my foundation. Finally after 3 months, they came out and did some of the pavers surrounding the pool. They didn't finish, and left not only a palate of pavers in the front yard, but a pile of gravel base. My house was almost complete at this time. It held things up to the point, that I hired someone to finish the pavers in the back, and remove the gravel. In this time, I contacted them by over 10 emails, and multiple calls and texts. Almost all of them were completely ignored. I was told starting in Dec., 5 months ago, that they would finish grading where the pool equipment is located. The owners son finally came out to my house. They say they are going to finish, and he places it in the back yard. After 10 days, and 2 emails, they still have not finished my pool. Update: 6/6 The pavers have still not been addressed. The pool equipment is set, but not connected to electric or gas. I have been told 2x a week for last 3 weeks, that this would be addressed.

I give Blue Haven Pools & Spas an A because at the end of the day, it was a good pool. All the guys that worked on the pool itself were great. The guys that worked around the pool weren't so great, you had to keep on top of them. The price was good. The quality of the pool was great.

Blue Haven Pools and Spas located at 10020 Industrial Drive, Pineville, North Carolina, 28134 were extremely responsive to our request for service. Staff was professional, courteous and provided expert consultation. Staff arrived at previously scheduled time, making every effort to accommodate our timeframes. Replacement parts were determined and obtained in a timely and efficient manner. Consultation provided will greatly assist us in ongoing maintenance and servicing needs of our pool. We are extremely satisfied with the service they provided and would highly recommend Blue Haven Pools and Spas for our future maintenance needs.

Frank the owner, Kevin the salesman and Jack his project manager were great to work with. We had some weather challenges however as soon as the weather broke they were right out there to see if we could make progress towards completion. Beautiful job! I would defiantly recommend them to my Real Estate Buyers and Sellers if they are thinking of putting in a pool. The quality of their work was above my expectations. I am looking forward to spending my Summers with the Family in the pool. Thank you Blue Haven.

I never wrote any negative comments about anyone in my entire life. For the first time, Blue Haven pools forced me to do so now. I signed contract with Blue Haven in October, 2013. They promised me to complete the pool within 45 days. It's been 8 months now and still have outstanding issues. It has been a nightmare through out the process and unfortunately it's our first time building the pool. Kevin who is a sale man, was good with us until he got the contract signed. After that, he never called for any issues we reported. I had to push them hard to get the building process done for the past eight months. I expressed my concerns that their lack of completing the work is stopping us from closing on our house and converting our loan as well. We had to postpone our closing date, converted loan after 2.5 months later. But they didn't give a care since they got most of their money from the bank already.
On top of it, I received threatening email from Frank (owner of the company) that he'll send a notice thru his lawyer, take my pool equipment away, no warranty provided etc.
Blue Haven is the only pool company my builder allows during building process. So, I went with them. Otherwise I would have not gone with them since I do my homework before I hire someone. I'm regretting for my decision now. If you google this franchise company, you'll find 122 complaints and all have similar stories.
If you want your dream project of building a pool to be pleasant and not turn to a nightmare and save yourself time, energy, money and hastle of dealing with pool company, please do yourself a favor. Stay away from BLUE HAVEN POOLS&SPAS. It's an expensive project and you don't want to go through this hastle after you spent your hard earned money.

Overall, I had to give them a C because of two main issues - the sub-contractor for the decking was terrible to work with and the responsiveness after the fact to get an issue fixed with the decking was also a nightmare. Everyone else we worked with was great. Kevin during the sales process was awesome, Buddy our foreman was always available and helpful. The stone guys do unbelievable work. The plumbers and electricians were awesome, and Daniel who did the orientation and some repair work was also great to work with. Even Frank came out before the final inspection. Decking was another story. Dennis from DRV who did the pavers (sub-contractor from Blue Haven - not someone we picked) would claim he'd be here one day, then never show up or call. 3 days later I'd call the office asking what was up, and they'd call Dennis, he'd say he'd be there tomorrow, and then not show up again. Took almost a month to get him to show up. Pavers came out great when they finally did get installed. About 6 months later (about February), we had some sinking of the pavers around the skimmer and called the office to get them fixed - took about 100 follow-up phone calls and until August to get him back out. If not for the decking nightmare, I'd give these guys an A.
**Follow-up: Dennis called me regarding this review to explain things from his perspective, and did apologize for the communication problems. In fairness to Dennis @ DRV, my communication regarding the decking was mostly through our account manager at Blue Haven - so I can't say if they were telling us one thing and telling him something else. The decking itself still looks great, and the main issue I had was with the lack of communication.

We have a challenging yard with a significant slope, so our project was particularly challenging. We had gotten pretty far down the road with another pool company and at the last minute called Blue Haven to get one more quote. Kevin, the sales guy, came out and gave us his design idea, upgraded our plan in a number of places (including size and features) and outbid the other company by a significant amount. They built our pool and we are extremely happy with it. It was a hard job and there were some bumps along the way, but in the end we were very happy and anything that came up was addressed and handled by Frank, the owner. Any major construction like that is going to have snags, so you have to expect that -- but you need to have confidence that the company you've hired will work with you throughout and step in as needed. They did that for us and the finished project is stunning. I think we would say that it exceeded our expectations and was done just about on time. Some of their subcontractors are better than others, but Frank stands by his product and makes sure the customer is happy in the end -- and we appreciated that very much. We're very, very happy and look forward to using it all summer this year!!

During the process of excavating for the pool, the pipe that drained the perimeter drain around the house was crushed and discarded. This damage was concealed after it was done. Shortly afterwards, a heavy rain storm caused flooding in the crawl space under the house, and our basement was flooded. The wall-to-wall carpets were ruined and the hard wood floor in the basement was under water. We hired a company to dry out the floor, which took about 1 week. A flooring company advised us to continue to try to dry out the floor and to wait several months to see if the floor would return to its previous condition, or if it would need to be replaced. Frank accepted responsibility for the flooding in the basement and damage to the floor and credited us the cost to dry out the floor. We decided that we would have to wait to see how much damage there was to the floor before paying for the repairs. After seeing the estimates to have the hard wood floors replaced Frank has refused to pay the cost.

BLUE HAVEN POOLS(BHP) IS NOT CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTED, IS DISCOURTEOUS, AND LACKS INTEGRITY IN KEEPING THEIR AGREEMENTS. MY DRIVEWAY WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED BY BHP AND IN THE APPLICATION OF GREY PLASTER CREATED TWO UNSIGHTLY WHITE BLOTCHES. THIS LOOKS AWFUL. NOT ONLY DO THEY REFUSE TO FIX THESE ITEMS BUT THEY HAVE ALSO INSISTED THAT THE BLOTCHING IS A RESULT OF MY NOT BRUSHING THE SURFACE PROPERLY AFTER THE POOL WAS FILLED WITH WATER. EVEN THOUGH I POINTED OUT THIS FLAW TO THEM WHILE THE POOL WAS STILL FILLING WITH WATER. THEIR POINT OF VIEW NOW IS THAT THESE BLOTCHES ARE CONSISTENT WITH A 'MARBLE PATTERN.' I HAVE SINCE LEARNED THAT SOMEONE IN A NEARBY COMMUNITY HAD THEIR POOL INSTALLED THE SAME TIME AS ME AND HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. I WORK AT HOME AND OBSERVED A GENERAL LACK OF CONTRACTOR OVERSIGHT, THIS LACK OF OVERSIGHT CREATED MANY QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES. THE POOL EQUIPMENT WAS PLACED IN A LOCATION DIFFERENT THAN WHAT WE WANTED, WHEN I INFORMED THE MANAGER HE HAD A TEMPER TANTRUM.
Response from Blue Haven Pools & Spas
"OUR RECORDS SHOW THE POOL DUG 8/25/04 AND PLASTERED 10/27/04, WITHIN NORMAL PARAMETERS. ALSO, IN OUR RECORDS IS A COLORED PLASTER AGREEMENT SIGNED BY THE CUSTOMER WHICH OUTLINES WHAT THE APPEARANCE WILL BE. TYPICALLY, THERE IS "MOTTLING", PARTICULARLY WITH GRAY PLASTER, HAS A MARBLE-AFFECT APPEARANCE. WE EXPLAIN FULLY WHAT THE APPEARANCE WILL BE, BOTH IN WRITING AND VERBALLY. OUR GM VISITED THIS SITE AND DETERMINED THAT THERE IS NOTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY WITH THE PLASTER. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS MEMBER JUST DID NOT WANT TO HEAR THIS, EVEN THOUGH HE SIGNED AN AGREEMENT TO THIS EFFECT. WE DON''T TREAT ANY CUSTOMER ANY DIFFERENTLY THAN ANY OTHER, REGARDLESS OF THE CONTRACT TOTAL. EQUIPMENT LOCATIONS ARE DETERMINED FOR OPTIMUM OPERATION, IE, CLOSEST TO THE POOL AND AT POOL GRADE WHENEVER POSSIBLE, IN ORDER TO AVOID FUTURE PROBLEMS. OUR POOLS ARE SCHEDULED AND BUILT BY NO LESS THAN 5 PEOPLE INVOLVED, ALONG WITH ALL SUBS. I AM NOT SURE HOW THIS CONSTITUTES LACK OF OVERSIGHT ON ANY JOB."

WORK WITH FRANK AYLWARD, HE IS VERY HONEST, AND GOOD TO WORK WITH. NOTE: GETTING FOLLOW UP AFTER INSTALLATION SOMETIMES REQUIRES MORE THAN ONE CALL.

THIS COMPANY WAS EXTREMELY COMPETITIVE IN THEIR PRICES AND DID AN EXCELLENT JOB FOR US. THEY BUILT OUR POOL IN LESS THAN ONE MONTH FROM START TO FINISH. STRONGLY RECOMMEND.
