This agent charges a $500 NON-REFUNDABLE fee, plus you pay for any ads she chooses to run. We do not feel that we got adequate representation, and in fact she used the open houses (for which WE paid to advertise OUR home) to pitch her competing listings to prospective buyers. She was told after the first open house not to purchase any further newspaper ads, because they proved not to be cost-effective; but she did anyway, and billed us for them. She also did not seem particularly knowledgeable about the local market; she agreed with our starting price, but 3 months into the contract urged us to lower the house to a fire-sale price which would have left us underwater at closing. Save your money, buy a For Sale By Owner sign & stick it in your yard.
