Moving
$3,500
My parents hired Marty for a cross-country move. He quoted $3500 for the move, which seemed very affordable. The first signs of unprofessionalism were in the beginning. He was hired to haul my moms car along with the UHaul truck and he tried to get them to pay the same price for Marty to take his own car instead of my moms. He showed up to pack their belongings and took $1000 to pay for his expenses along the way. I had the remaining money to give him upon receipt of their belongings in Washington. The next morning when the move was supposed to occur, Marty and the $1000 were no where to be found. He left the Uhaul by the side of the highway with the keys in it. We first tried wellness checks and reaching out to his employees because we and my parents realtor were worried. Finally, the realtor got ahold of an employee that said Marty had to leave town for a custody issue. As I am sure you can imagine, this was very stressful for my parents. At ages 71 and 66, this was their first major move. Two days later, my mom found my dad had passed away due to a sudden and unexpected heart attack in the midst of trying to solve the problems caused by relying on Marty. I finally heard from Marty 2 weeks later on Facebook after I finally told him my dad had died in a last ditch effort for a refund as this ordeal ended up being incredibly heart breaking, devastating, and expensive. Instead of offering condolences he tried to claim that my parents didnt pay him. He said he could prove this because he did not pay his employees. My mom and I are 100% certain my dad paid him. He is clearly using my dads death to justify keeping the money. Marty likely underestimated the cost of moving. He is unexperienced. Instead of admitting this fault and trying to renegotiate, he left town with my parents hard-earned money and stressed my sweet dad out days before his death. Luckily, my uncle drove their belongings west. A lot of their stuff was damaged due to incredibly poor packing. The weight was uneven and caused issues during the whole drive. Please do not give this man the benefit of the doubt. I will always wonder what could have happened to help my dad if he hadn’t had the tremendous extra stress of Marty. I will also always wonder what kind of person would use the death of a man to deny his family their money back.

Moving
$850
I hired Marty the Mover for two jobs: The first was to unload some heavy furniture from our moving truck. No problems. The guys did a great job. The problem came on the second job. It was a full move, and a ten-hour job. Firstly, I asked (politely) for them not to take a stray kitten that I wanted to adopt which was in front of my house. Secondly, my boxes with fragile collectibles and other family heirlooms were just thrown around; many irreplaceable items were broken. Thirdly, a couple of household items came up missing: An oil heater (worth about $90.00) and my extensive CD collection (worth about $4,000.00) A box which had a picture of a heater on the outside was torn at the top to reveal its contents (misc. household items) so that box was left behind; the original box with the heater I used once, is gone. I owned a business for over 20 years; this is NO WAY to treat clients who pay and entrust you with your personal, household and other items. After the first job, I would have highly recommended them; now, in good conscience, I cannot. UPDATE: I was missing approximately 10 boxes of my personal items. On a hunch, I called the truck rental company where the truck was to be returned. They informed me that my items had been LEFT IN THE TRUCK and they were decent enough to store them for me. When I went to pick up my items, EVERY SINGLE BOX HAD BEEN OPENED, and items removed. A box containing an urn with my parent's ashes and my deceased pets is missing. Also, my Grandfather, who served in the Army in WWII and died when I was only 3 months old left me his dog tags and my Great-Grandmother left me the American flag from his casket. BOTH ITEMS ARE GONE. I am an Ovarian Cancer survivor and now disabled with an incurable, progressive Spinal disease. My pets are my children and their ashes were to be cremated along with me when I pass. I cannot stress enough how unprofessional and thieving this company is. I have photo evidence and anyone is welcome to call the truck rental company who was kind enough to store the items they were too lazy to take off the truck to corroborate my statement. I paid them over $800 to do a job, and my most precious possessions are either missing or discarded like trash. I will be retaining legal counsel to remedy this situation as it has caused me not only monetary loss, but emotional distress as well. I don't know how he sleeps at night treating a disabled couple this way, especially a Veteran who nearly lost his life in Vietnam so he and all Americans can enjoy their freedoms.

Moving
The movers were late and inexperienced at packing, but were very nice and hard working. The trouble began on the other end when we unpacked the truck to learn that many of our things were damaged significantly: our flat-screen TV was packed with the screen facing in (even though one of the movers had labeled it to be faced outward) and was stove in by a wheel barrow. Ratchet straps ground a spot on the tank of my motorcycle down to bare metal. And many others pieces of furniture were scratched, dented, or made rickety from questionable loading. I understand that mistakes happen, and some dings and dents are inevitable when moving, but the worst part of the experience began when I attempted to contact Marty about the damage. He would not return my phone calls, and only after I texted him did he respond, claiming that I'd waived liability and that since I contacted him directly (the Movinghelp.com site wasn't working) and paid him in cash, I had no recourse. I write this review so that others won't share my misfortune. DO NOT USE THIS MOVER!!!
