SAWYER'S LAWN & LANDSCAPING

After getting the estimate, he asked for a DEPOSIT OF $1000 for materials.  EXACTLY what the previous Angie's list entry said.  Had I SEEN the Angie's list posting, I would have not hired him, but AGAIN, THIS IS THE PERFECT ANGIE'S LIST COMMERCIAL!!!

On 5/5/14, I revised the blueprint of the landscaping, removing about 50% of the flower beds.  Figuring that would HALF the cost of the $2500 estimate, I anticipated a maximum of a hundred dollars including my deposit.  He called back and said "I revised the estimate, it will be $3,400.... this is AFTER I had given him a deposit.  Needless to say I had sticker shock.  So I called off the project and, as he is in mid-job for a friend of mine, he texted me and said he would refund my money on 5/6.  On 5/7, no response, he was busy.  By 5/9/14 and several texts, he said he would be dropping by after a drive to Wilmington.  NEVER ARRIVED.  Then I checked Angie's list and saw the same thing has happened to others.  WHAT A CON ARTIST.  I spoke with my friend who said he never had to pay a deposit and was surprised he asked one of me.  I texted him again asking if he would be coming by today, he responded "I'm visiting my dad in Oak Island for one more night and will let you know in a bit after I talk with the wife".  I'll never see my money, but hope others learn from my mistake.

I'm out $1000 and after seeing that previous posting, I will always check Angie's list for any services.  This guy is a thief! BEWARE!!!

We have since filed charges and found out he has changed his address, and he has failed to appear in court to answer to this. We are out of our money but it is more important to us that others know what happened here. After trusting in someone for so many years we would never have expected this, but we have come to find out that he has recently done this to others. When I asked him to look into it, he called and told me he wasn't comfortable with the quality of the pine straw and recommended I wait a few weeks. A little while later, he called and told me he found some that he was comfortable putting his name on and it looks great. He is always friendly, professional, and our yard is well kept. I highly recommend him!

I was unhappy with my lawn care company that I had used for the past 3 years.  They had not been successful in controlling weeks.
I interviewed 4 companies and was very impressed with George Sawyer and his knowledge.  He came to my home to give me an estimate and was very professional.  His prices are very reasonable.
He has maintained my lawn for the past 4 months and I have been very pleased with the service.  The real test will come in the spring and summer when weeds usually reappear.

Our overall experience is good and we will use them again in the future.
