E. Thornton and Sons, LLC

Originally said job would take 1 -2 days . Been over 2 months not completed. Got payment for other job and stared that also but never finished. Always says be there "next week then doesn't show up. Also said after initial down payment he would send contract n3ver did that either

Over a period of 15 mo, he took down the top and bottom decks, removed building siding on the upper and lower levels surrounding the windows and sliders that were contracted to replaced. He installed the flooring to the top deck but the flooring is bubbled and seams are exposed and separating. He began to install the railing to the top deck but the railing joints at a number of places do not meet and the top beam is pulling away from the railing and the mitre joints do not meet and the railing is wobbly and appears to structurally not sound. The lower deck has very little work completed. The subfloor on the lower deck is in but no other work has been done. The subfloor for the lower deck is also bubbled and needs to be replaced. Additionally, when we returned to our vacation home to check on the progress, we found the door from the garage open to the main home. This is especially troublesome since the area is on the a water inlet and the area has a rat problem, which means it has left our house exposed to rats. Additionally, E Thornton left the electric outlets open to the elements. It has been fifteen months since we agreed to the original invoice. Since the initial invoice approval we have received numerous and ridiculous excuses why he isn't completing or even attending to the job. We waited until August before we began email and phone communication with E Thornton and sons. We were told that he was having employee issues, he said that the weather was an issue, he said his truck broke down. He had the nerve to complain that the job was too far from his home. I communicated with E Thornton on the numerous dates regarding the status of the project and each time he assured me that the project nearly completed. We have communicate with E Thornton numerous times by email, text and phone calls. in all of those communications we were assured that the project was progressing and soon to be completed. It is now 15 months later and the work that has been done is either flawed or not done at all. As the time progressed to recent months, E Thornton became more defensive and verbally caustic. He was now responding that he didn't want to hear that the project was taking more than 14 months. He told us that he would be going to the house to work on the job but then he never showed up. We asked for pictures of the progress on the job but he only sent the pictures twice over the fifteen month period. We asked for the invoices and warranty for the windows and sliders he refused. We asked that he send us photos of the supposedly purchased windows and sliders, he refused. Case in a text communication with E Thornton dated 11/12/24 Thornton said: "Just want you to be aware that I'm really behind schedule and will return to the project on 11/20/24 The next of 12/1/24 He said:" Jus to let you know it will be 12/16/24 before I get you wrapped up. I'm running a little behind schedule due to having to make some employee changes. I was tried of guys no showing up and I had to work by myself." on Sunday 12/15/24 He wrote: " It will be end of week like Saturday 12/21/24 before we have 90% done. These are the types of communications we have had with E Thornton over the months. He assured us that the project would be 90% done in December of 2024, it is now July 25, 2025 and the job is not even 50% done and what has been done is done poorly. Finally, as previously noted this is a vacation home and the home has not been available to us over two summers because of the construction to the deck, sliders and window.

Most dishonest contractor I have ever hired. Emory is unprofessional and unreliable. I hired him to redo my deck and install a aluminum fence in Feb. He requested a substantial amount upfront, stating it was for material. Months later, the deck wasn't finished and his reasoning was he was waiting on material.. over two months later. He eventually finished the deck and refused to show proof of ordering the fencing material. 4 months past and there still wasn't any fencing material. He eventually told me in the driveway" I do what the **** I want" He gave multiple dates that work would be started during the process, they all came to pass and now I am doing the fence myself with material it only took me two weeks to get in. I would highly suggest using someone else for your home needs.

Bought a Home Heat and air pump from this guy, seems to be honest came when I called up till winter of 2023. Unit would not heat house when it got to 32 degrees called him he would not come. I travel with work made it another month and a half end of Feb we had a cold snap was running two 1500 watt heater, and the AC unit bought from him. Called him again he would not come. Had to hire someone else to service the unit.. Heat strips were burnt out. About a month later another part went out I called him told him to come get the thing. He came replaced that part, we had a few words about him dropping me, he left. Never got a bill. Had mentioned selling a trailer to him never heard back from him. He called Mid Jan this year ask me if I still had the trailer. Did not want to sell it . Got a invoice on e mail one years after he came and fixed the unit for almost 1000 dollars. ONE YEAR. Now he is demanding payment. Use at own risk.

Communications from the contractor was excellent. Mr. Emory kept me informed of his timeline throughout the project, always showed up on time as did his workers. Very professional and great customer service. Iâ m already hiring him for another job based on how he performed this one.

They did a great job replacing a storm door and an exterior door. Responded quickly. Got the project completed in a timely manner. Great communication. This is now my go to company for home repairs.

Installed two heat pumps and did a great job

Scott goes above and beyond when emergency services are needed. Iâ  ve experienced this numerous times with water pumps failing heating and air problems and water leaks. He never leaves you hanging.

Great job! Even provided some starter filters. We were very satisfied with his work overall. I will continue to use him in the future.

I hired E Thornton and Sons to complete our most recent home renovation. The customer service was impeccable. I will continue to use Scott and his team for any and all future home improvements.
