I noticed a grinding noise on my car. I dropped the transmission pan and saw a good deal of metal shavings in the pan. I knew I needed professional help. I called Dand E and brought car in for road test. Within hours, I was given four well-researched options for dealing with my problem. Options included installing a junkyard trans, having Dand E open and replace defective parts in their shop and re-install and buying a rebuilt trans from a known supplier and installing it, returning my broken trans for a core charge.
I chose the rebuilt transmission install route. I thought the price was very fair. The transmission was shipped from Florida in about three days and I was back on the road within about two more days. I was told to bring the car back in for a leak check after a certain mileage and it was pronounced healthy.
While the Ford 2000 F150 is 12 years old it has low mileage at 50,000 total. The transmission would not shift into third gear at the proper speed and some times not at all. D E Auto diagnosed the problem ordered the necessary parts and finished the repair the next day.
