My driveway was in very bad shape. In the years prior to my purchase of the home, a large poplar tree had sent roots into the driveway, raising the asphalt. There were also large holes where the asphalt had disintegrated, and large cracks over the entire driveway surface. I knew that the driveway could not be simply sealed or repaired, it needed to be replaced. I had several estimates, but was really impressed with Matt Laughter, owner of Trace and Company. Not only did he keep the initial estimate appointment, he was early! After looking over the driveway, he explained in detail what needed to be done and the steps his company would take to solve the issues at hand. I received his estimate exactly when he said I would, and thought it very fair considering the work that needed to be done.
After accepting Matt's proposal, I called to see when the work would begin. Matt gave me the date, and his crew was there bright and early on the scheduled day. It took two days to do the work, and both Brad and Tommy, crew leaders, explained what they were going to do each day. They were very respectful of my property, and always consulted with me before doing any landscape trimming, etc. I was extremely impressed with their work ethic, which seems hard to find these days. The driveway turned out beautifully, and I have had many compliments on it from friends, neighbors, and even the mail delivery person! After the crew finished, Matt called to see if everything was to my liking, which, of course it was.
I would not hesitate to recommend Trace and Company. Their professionalism, honesty, and work ethic was a pleasure to witness, and the driveway - it's simply beautiful!
They marked the area for excavation and then Brad the setup supervisor, reviewed it with me and explained how they would proceed. After excavation and framing were complete he asked if we wanted any adjustments made to how it was laid out.
The next morning Brandon, the pouring and finishing supervisor, arrived on time as planned and made sure we were happy with the framing. Which we were.
Because they did not want to bring a cement truck up our driveway or onto our lawn, the used a concrete pump to get the concrete into the forms. The truck stayed on an undeveloped lot next to us. It took a complete truck load to pour the drive, but it only took an 1 1/2 to do the initial pour. They spent the rest of the morning finishing the concrete. By the end of the afternoon the forms were removed and the concrete was sealed.
The next morning Brad returned with a small crew to backfill and clean up the area so I could reseed the areas ( reseeding was not part of our agreement)
We were very pleased with the results and the care they took of our property. Especially since they were the most reasonably priced of the three bids we received.
