Advanced Home Improvements

Moved into our new condo over 4th of July weekend and tried to dry a load of laundry. It took about 2 hours so I figured the dryer vent must be plugged. Called the management company and they hired Advanced Home Improvement To do the work. I received a completed work order so tried to dry another lot of laundry. Same result so it must be the dryer. Bought a new dryer, $600, and on the first load it gave me an error code indicating that the dryer vent was 90% plugged. I purchased a dryer vent cleaning kit and you can see from the picture what I pulled out of the vent. They did come back and re-clean the vent but made no offer to pay for the dryer I did not need. The cost was paid by the management company so I do not know what it cost.

Advance Home Improvements was hired through our Condo Management Company to clean the Dryer vent pipe. We just moved into our condo and the dryer was really slow so requested the vent be cleaned. Advance Home Improvements was hired by our management company to do the job. We recieved a closed work order so tried to dry close again with the same results. Very slow tying so assumed it must be the dryer. Purchased a new dryer for $600 only to find that the "Flow Sensor" on the new dryer indicated the vent pipe to be 90% plugged. I purchased a vent pipe cleaning kit and pulled 6 dustpans full of dryer lint out of the vent pipe. Pretty sure the management company was charged for the service that was not provided. Advance Home Improvement did come back and clean the pipe again but I am still out $600 for a dryer I did not need.

The job actually happened in 2008, but I did have Randy out to the house to take a look at some other work in 2012. Overall I was very pleased with my experience with Advanced Home Improvement. In terms of job scope, I'd say it was a medium level renovation that involved new kitchen cabinets and appliances, new roof, installation of solar "tubes" and can lighting and the replacement of paneling with dry wall. The job started and finished on time with only a small delay due to the city inspections. Randy was very responsive and professional. I would certainly use them again. In fact, this Angies list request for a review served as a great reminder to revisit the work we discussed in 2012.

I can truly say that I have never had a better team working on my house! I almost hate to give them such a good rating, knowing that I'll be competing for their time with all the other Angie's List customers, but they're simply stellar. Mary Ellen and Britt in the office are very helpful with scheduling, and never too busy to answer questions with a smile. All around, this is a top-notch organization.

I've used Randy's company for numberous jobs with good results. He is always responsive and the finished job is great. On this job he replaced a lot of rotten wood on our dormers and trim. He also repaired a leak on our porch that we had not been able to stop before. He has previously put a vapor barrier in our crawl space. He did an excellent job on that.

Everything went well. I was very pleased with the service and their price was reasonable.

Randy did excellent work, was very professional and completed the task in a timely manner. He went above and beyond what was asked of him to do a very high quality job of getting my house and dock in good shape. I've had Randy to other work since this job and each time I've been impressed with his workmanship and his wide range of knowledge. I would highly recommend him.
