Makohon Carpentry

We searched all summer for a quality and affordable company or person to build a detached deck for our home. We received various quotes ranging from $1,500 for a standard no frills attached deck ( 10' x 10' deck attached to the house) to $5,000 plus dollars for the design we ultimately went with (14' x 14' detached deck with cover). A friend of mine introduced us to Makohon Carpentry. First off, let me be perfectly clear, Ben Makohon DOES NOT live in Nashville. He is looking to relocate to Nashville, but right now he lives in Boone, NC. We had to provide Ben a picture of our idea and approximate dimensions along with some pictures of our house and landscape. In return, Ben returned a drawing of what the deck would look like along with a materials list from Lowe's so we would know what the materials actually cost. Ben does not upcharge for materials. We simply called the Lowe's store and paid for the materials he needed. There was a trip charge included in the price, but it was very affordable. Ben arrived ON TIME on the day he was supposed to arrive even after a drive from North Carolina which involved his truck having a flat on the interstate. He worked all day on site prep and setting the footing. This work schedule continued throughout the project (4 days). Ben was always very courtious and always answered all the questions I had and made this project fun as well as providing an excellent value. I have no reservations in recommending Ben Makohon for any carpentry job you may have. This is not only my opinion, but I have had several people over to enjoy our new deck as that have commented not only it's quality, but its design as well.
