Horrible experience. Poor communication, customer service, not prepared or professional. They certainly deserve the 1 star they have along with Uhaul. Supposed owner couldn’t even rent a Uhaul truck to rectify their erroneous booking on top of being late

If you’ve read nice reviews be aware this is not the same person running the company. The owner has passed away and Steve, the son, runs the business. Steve’s business strategy seems to be taking money from one-time customers and providing as little effort as possible. I’m from Seattle, not Durham. I was helping my daughter move into a new house when Steve was hired via U-Haul. Trucks were rented, a house needed to be vacated and I had a flight scheduled to get home. On move day it was raining. Steve tried to cancel because of rain and then at our insistence did show up with his helper Damian (?). I’d bought 4 hours labor for two men. When he got there (at 11am) we spent no fewer than 10 minutes arguing over his insistence starting at 11am and working until 2pm constituted 4 hours. He seemed to struggle with the math, making me think he was cognitively dense but thinking back I’m convinced it was just performance. Once quitting time was established, I let him know I may want a couple extra hours from them. He quoted $280. Though I could have used the help I smartly was getting nervous about the situation and chose no time extension. The next 3 hours then came to validate that decision. Steve consistently complained about the rain and wanted to hold off until it let up. He made clear multiple times his expectation of a tip. He complained about stairs. He would disappear into parts of the house, when I clearly stated he was there to help move the big items, to the point I got nervous about security. He spent two 30 minute sessions on the toilet. He would delay constantly saying he was “thinking it over”. I’m 62 years old. These two men are in their twenties. In the end I got Damian to move several pieces with me and then, at times, Steve would take my side of the lift (Damien is a good worker but Steve holds him back). We did get most the big items moved except the refrigerator, washer and dryer. At 2:40pm I could see the lack of interest in moving appliances and I’d had enough. I cut them loose but they had no transportation. I ran them back to the original house where he first waited around as if eventually I’d hire him for more hours. Finally I said specifically “our business is over and you need to leave now”. The two of them waited in the cab of the U-haul truck for ½ hour for their ride to arrive (not soon enough). If you’re considering hiring this company to help you just know you’d be better off doing the job yourself. As for Damien… you’ve got a lot of potential so if you’re reading this let me give some advice. Your friend Steve is toxic. You need to walk away from this guy, and never look back, as if your life depends on it.

He was very professional. He came in. He cleaned up. He came back and painted my hallway. It was a great job. I was surprised but he did the job. I was pleased with it.

Very professional and punctual. The price was surprisingly more affordable than I anticipated. Will definitely use them again!
