The original quote was $4835 which was for doing the job room by room over several months but he offered a discount of $835 if we had the job completed at one time stating it would take 5 days to complete using 4 men. When we met with him we discussed doing walls ceilings, closets and baseboards. When he arrived they start the job but I noticed that they were not working on the ceilings. When I inquired about this he stated that they ceilings were not part of the job and it would cost another $1400. I stated that this was part of the agreement but he insisted that this would take more time than we agreed to. His estimate was not as detailed as it should have been and frankly this is my fault for not being more diligent. I agreed to pay the extra and they started to work on the ceilings. He then told me that the paint store (Sherman Williams) have a huge order of the paint we agreed to use so he would have to use two different types of paint. Both cost the same just had different qualities which I verified by contacting Sherman Williams.
They job was finished in 3 days which surprised me since the original timeline was 5 days (which according to him did not include the ceilings). I paid him for the job but just as he was leaving I noticed that one wall had some roller marks which I showed him and he agreed to repaint. He then told me he did not have enough paint to re-roll it and he would be back tomorrow since he had a job a few minutes away.
They next day came and went; I called him and left him several messages but never a call back. During this time I found other areas that needed to be touched up and poor workmanship in closets. I decided to repaint the wall myself and went to the store to buy more paint. When I told the manager that the contractor used two different paints he asked why. I explained that the reason I was given was that the stores ran out of the types they were supposed to use he told me that that was not true-they had plenty. There was no big job that caused a shortage. I then found numerous cigarette butts left in my garage from the workers; they used my drill and actually broke an old wicker rocking chair. I also had purchased 6 quart samples of paint that my wife and I purchased to decide on paint colors that during the job I noticed that they placed in an old paint box which I assumes was to keep separate. I found those missing as well and while I would not be able to use them I paid for them and they removed them from my residence without my permission.
I have since sent Jeff Thompson a letter stating that I warrant a refund, I have contacted the BBB and an attorney. I would not recommend this contractor.
My problem comes 4 months after when the paint on the deck started to come off and the caulking on the siding started to separate. I attempted to contact numerous times via phone text etc. I sent pictures and videos. I received one reply that stated dont worry and then nothing else. "Professionalism". I paid about a grand more for this company because I felt that they were professional, but apparently all smoke and mirrors.
