We have used them and they did great. I can't remember what the price was, but they were great.
Mr. Ammons was very helpful: He recommended that we start by pumping the tank, because that might be sufficient to fix the problem. Ammons doesn't provide septic pumping services (they focus on repairs), but he recommended another company (Lefler-Stuart), provided their contact information, and said he'd be glad to help if we still had a problem after pumping.
Gerald Lemmonds, owner of Lefler-Stuart (in Charlotte), said he could come the following morning. He arrived at the specified time and after digging around, diagnosed a broken septic lift pump in the effluent tank, which would require repair/replacement by Ammons. (He said we did not need to pump the septic tank itself at that time, but recommended we do so in 6 months to a year -- even though he could easily have recommended immediate septic pumping, too, and charged for that as well.) With our approval, he contacted Mr. Ammons with all the specifics, and then drained (pumped out) the effluent tank to provide access for Ammons.
Tim Ammons arrived within about an hour. He replaced the lift pump and float switch, repaired the alarm switch, closed everything up, replaced all the soil and tidied up. He left his card with contact information in case there were any problems, but we have not had to use it in the two and a half months since then.
Mr. Ammons (like Mr. Lemmonds) was thoroughly helpful, prompt, efficient, pleasant and courteous. Both recommended steps to minimize the expense, rather than selling us services we did not need. Mr. Ammons's fee was mostly the cost of the pump itself, and relatively little for time and labor. We can highly and enthusiastically recommend T.W. Ammons Septic Service Inc.
