 + -1 moreWithin 24 hours, Mitchell called to say the machine was ready. The machine was gleaming when we picked it up. In spite of the fact it is 88 yrs old, my trusty machine sews as well as it ever did and I'm so very pleased. Not every sewing machine service shop has the expertise or even desire to properly care for these vintage beauties. Without a doubt, Mitchell knows his business. This shop is unpretentious, on a small side street in Mooresville with a tiny 'OPEN' sign in one window. If you blink hard, you may miss it. Mitchell doesn't accept credit or debit cards and does a simple cash business. Don't look for him on the internet as he doesn't have a website. This shop is a truly rare find. I highly recommend Mayhew's Sewing Machine Shop and Mitchell Mayhew to anyone seeking such service. He also sells and services Necchi sewing machines so I'm certain his expertise covers newer machines as well.
Description of Work: I own a 1926 Pfaff 360 Sewing Machine which I cherish. It had been years since I had this machine cleaned and serviced because of a bad experience I had many years ago in the late 1970's. As a result, I'd used it less and less since I couldn't find anyone I trusted to service it properly. It traveled with us when we moved South 13 years ago and I just came upon it during a clean out of our storage area. I just couldn't part with the machine so I did an internet search for someone who could properly service vintage sewing machines. Ultimately, I came across one tiny blog recommendation for Mitchell Mayhew of Mayhew Sewing Machine Shop in Mooresville. We went to his shop that day. I knew I had the right person when he instantly recognized the machine and referenced how it worked and how strong and reliable these machines are. I left it in his hands to examine, clean and adjust, if needed.
