Within 24 hours, Mitchell called to say the machine was ready. The machine was gleaming when we picked it up. In spite of the fact it is 88 yrs old, my trusty machine sews as well as it ever did and I'm so very pleased.
Not every sewing machine service shop has the expertise or even desire to properly care for these vintage beauties. Without a doubt, Mitchell knows his business.
This shop is unpretentious, on a small side street in Mooresville with a tiny 'OPEN' sign in one window. If you blink hard, you may miss it. Mitchell doesn't accept credit or debit cards and does a simple cash business. Don't look for him on the internet as he doesn't have a website.
This shop is a truly rare find. I highly recommend Mayhew's Sewing Machine Shop and Mitchell Mayhew to anyone seeking such service. He also sells and services Necchi sewing machines so I'm certain his expertise covers newer machines as well.
