For the large size & scope of this project, things went very well, overall. There were some issues that had to be resolved, but we managed to work through those. EFC provided a time line upfront and we were able to hold them to that by not making substantial changes once the demolition/rebuilding started. Deborah and Geoff are honest people that want to do their best. The job superintendent was diligent and stayed on top of the subs so things moved along without periods of no activity. EFC provided detail on construction costs-to-date.

Defective repairs. The cabinet subcontractor did not adequately repair the damage. Billing problems and cost overruns. EFC failed to provide acceptable explanations to our repeated requests about certain charges that far exceeded what they bid and what we were promised. Invoices included hourly charges that exceeded the time worked. Failed to complete the job. After having paid EFC almost $45,000 they stopped working and used as their excuse that invoices for approximately $2,500 remained unpaid, even though they walked off the job before the amounts were due and they failed to provide an acceptable response to our repeated requests for explanations. Our offers to deposit the disputed amounts into escrow so that EFC would return to complete the job were rejected. We reported our problems to the BBB. EFC ignored the BBB offers to arbitrate this matter. The BBB now shows that EFC has failed to resolve complaint issues through the BBB voluntary and self-regulatory process.
