For the past couple of years we've had trouble with the pilot light in our gas logs not staying on and/or the fire not staying lit. I called the phone # that Angie's List provided, and David picked up and immediately had me explain the problem to him in detail. He then asked if he could call me back while he mulled it over because he was in the checkout line at a store. Minutes later he called me back and suggested I try simply using compressed air to blow dust away from the pilot light area and to call him back if it doesn't work because there was no point in my paying him for a service call if that's all it was. Well, I tried it that night and the pilot has been going strong ever since, which I have been very thankful given this winter, and all it cost was a can of compressed air. Because of his honesty and compassion for a would-be customer, I'll recommend David anytime, and he'll definitely be the first person I call should I have an issue in the future.

I called for a quote and scheduled a time to convert my gas fireplace back to a wood burning fireplace. He was prompt, professional, and I believe very knowledgeable about gas/gas lines. He mentioned a few times that people don't usually convert from gas to wood; it's usually the other way around (maybe that's why he didn't have the necessary equipment needed to do the job?). He got a little soot on the carpet but other than that, he caped the gas line off, removed the logs, and we were ready to go!

David was incredibly prompt with communication and showing up for the appointment. When David and I first spoke, he was in transit to another job. David took down my information and what we wanted to have done and then called back to give me a price range for installing the new gas line. He offered to come out and look at the job to give me an exact amount if I wanted, which I told him was not necessary. David showed up right on time and the work was outstanding. The final bill was actually a little bit less than I had expected.

Great it was short, sweet and to the point. We were concerned about a leak in our gas logs. Mr. Black called within the same day I left a message. He asked if he could call me in the morning about coming out the next day. He called when he said he would and set up an appointment. He was on time and professional. He listened to the issue and checked the fireplace out and found no problems. He volunteered to check the water heater just in case there was a problem there. He explained what he thought might have caused the fumes and answered all our questions.

I met David Black several years ago when I moved into my home and had to replace the gas logs. I had several other people come out but David was the only one who instilled confidence (I'm not very fond of using gas logs). He checked out the connections, etc. and got the new logs and remote working properly. I turn off the gas in the summer, but I hire him every winter now to come out and start up my gas logs and make sure everything is ok.

Great. Came the day after I called and started. Finished the next day. Was $100 less than anyone else.

The pilot light on my gas logs was directly hitting a log and that concerned me plus I wasn't comfortable with the person that installed them. David had been here before to check my old log set and I was very impressed with him so I called and asked him to see if the pilot light presented a problem and/or if he could adjust the flame. He checked everything out completely and determined the flame could not be adjusted but confirmed that it was not a problem and explained all the whys and wherefores. Because he felt that he did not do any "work", he did not charge me his full fee. I think his time, travel and the peace of mind it gave me would have justified it, but I was grateful for the reduced fee. I didn't use David to install the new logs when I bought them, but used the dealer's person who was less expensive. Had I used David to begin with I would not have had the concerns or aggravations which resulted from using the other installer.

Left message for vendor. My call was returned within 30 minutes. He can do work within 2 or 3 days when I have my logs in hand. Very nice. Estimates $490 to run line from propane tank to fireplace and install logs. (We currently have regular wood burning fireplace.) He also will take care of getting permit.

VERY POSITIVE EXPERIENCE. TOOK TIME TO EXAMINE ALL AREAS OF GAS LOGS TO IDENTIFY LEAK CONNECTIONS OF GAS LOGS WERE FLEXIBLE PIPE IN TWO PLACES (WHICH WAS NOT CODE). LEAK WAS WHERE ONE OF THE CONNECTIONS WAS NOT TIGHT. DAVID SAID HE COULD CHANGE TO A FIXED PIPE BUT SINCE IT WAS NO LONGER LEAKING IT WASN'T REALLY NEEDED. STATED IF I SMELLED ANY GAS AGAIN, I COULD CALL HIM AND HE WOULD COME BACK AT NO CHARGE.

THIS GUY IS GREAT! HE WORKS ON ALL GAS APPLIANCES, GAS LINES, ETC. HE WAS POLITE, PROMPT, TOOK THE TIME TO LOOK AT OTHER STUFF I HAD, AND MAKE RECOMMENDATIONS ON MY FURNACE AND HEATER. HE WAS A VERY VERY HONEST GUY TELLING ME NOT TO SPEND MONEY ON THINGS I THOUGHT I NEEDED DONE, BUT REALLY DIDN'T. I WOULD REHIRE THIS GUY BACK ANYTIME AND HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM AS AN ETHICAL STAND-UP GUY!
