My older garage door was rotten and after one of the springs broke, I decided it was time to replace the door and upgrade the curb appeal of my home. After interviewing 4 garage door companies, I selected Carolina Garage Service based on their price (3 of the 4 companies sold the same exact garage door) and seemingly stellar online reviews. This was even after the "estimator" blew off my initial appointment and the owner Spencer Kempton called to reschedule for the next morning. I ordered a 8'x7' Doorlink 431 insulated garage door with Stockton windows for the top panel and add decorative spear hardware. The techs were also to replace the existing track and spring but retain my newer opener for $950. I paid a 50% deposit via Cash App on Wednesday and the work was to commence on Thursday. On Thursday, the installers arrived at my house at 11:00 am and proceeded to start disassembly of my existing garage door. While we were going over the job, one of the installers remarked that if I wanted the "upgraded garage door rollers", they would install them for an additional $80. I pushed back since that wasn't what was discussed and, through my interactions with the other garage door installers, I learned that the "upgraded" rollers were the standard rollers that came with the door. At that moment, I should have thrown them off the property and called the cops. When they unloaded the new door, I noticed that it didn't appear to be the correct model (it was stamped 430, which is a non-insulated door) and did not have the insulation requested. After they called the owner Spencer Kempton, they said that he ordered the wrong parts but they would supply an insulation kit. Spencer would later say this was the fault of the distributor Southern Ideal Door. About an hour into the tear down, they asked to borrow tools to remove the existing door (another bad sign) and then about an hour after that, they left to retrieve different tracks and springs. Mind you, they removed my entire garage door and left the job site with my entire house and garage exposed. I ended up sitting on my front porch for the next hour while I waited for them to return; watching over my stuff. The techs eventually returned with different tracks - this time too short and attempted to install them anyway. After 3 panels were "up" and the track only partially installed, they started to wrap up, vowing to return the next morning to finish. With only 3 panels up, my garage was still open to the elements and potential thieves. After convincing them to screw in one of the old panels to the wall to provide some look of a garage door, they left. Friday morning came and so did the excuses as to why they weren't coming Friday - maybe Monday. They claimed that they needed "angle iron" from their distributor. Angle Iron (the metal bits that the garage motor and track are suspended by) is available at every hardware store for about $15 for 6'. At this point, figuring that it was highly likely that they would not show on Monday either, I messaged the owner Spencer Kempton and his installers telling them that they can pick up the door pieces left at my house on Monday, refund my $475 deposit via Cash App, and they were fired. A couple hours later, I spoke with the owner Spencer Kempton who proceeded to offer me a $75 discount, then offered to send someone else, and then another discount but no refund. He stated that the door could not be returned and that I could have someone else come and finish the job. I declined all offers as the installers took most of the door parts with them and this wasn't the door I had ordered anyway (it wasn't insulated). At some point our conversation, he also admitted that he is living in California, attempting to start another garage door company there and that his installers had not installed a garage door like this before. He was attempting to guide them via the phone but simply, they were incompetent. At this point, I have an incorrect partial garage door, the wrong sized track, not all of the parts, and have now hired another installer to start the entire job again for another $1000+. BEWARE: Carolina Garage Service are nothing more than grifters out to make a quick buck.

Prepare to be delighted! I'll post an update once my new doors are installed, but I have to first say that Spencer is fantastic to work with! I first contacted Carolina Garage Service when the spring broke on my garage bay door, trapping my car INSIDE late on a Friday afternoon. I panicked when - after calling two other companies, NO ONE would come and help and I had plans throughout the weekend. Spencer was enjoying his day off, but since his other tech couldn't come to help, he agreed to come and free my car while we talked about options for repair. Since then, I have put in new garage door openers and am eagerly awaiting the installation of my new garage doors!

Called & spoke to Spencer who provided an estimate over the phone but scheduled a time for him to come out & take a look to confirm what needed to be done & provide more accurate quote. The cost of replacing the key pad vs just getting a newer opening for the one door was more cost effective in the long run. The wheels I had on both doors were metal and he suggested changing them out which would help with the noise when they doors opened and closed since they previously sounded like scratching metal that made your ears ring. There was no pressure to get the new wheels, just the recommendation and he fully explained the benefits that I would receive by doing this which made sense. Decided to replace weather stripping, purchased one new full garage door opened which included a new exterior and interior key pad with two remotes, and new wheels. Everything was installed in a few hours. Additionally he did everything he could to get the alignment on the one door fixed so it opened & closed better. It was still slightly off with spaces around the side where bugs could get in along with the heat/cold. The door was about 13 years old with some minor dings in it but the springs inside were really the issue since the tension on one was off. I opted to replace the one door instead of new springs and Spencer made a separate appointment a few days later to install it which took only a few hours. He even helped me replace an exterior light bulb by my front door I couldn't easily reach. At no point did I feel pressured to purchase additional services or parts outside of what I originally had requested. I made the decisions to completely replace the one door and opener based on the explanation from Spencer and comparing costs between options. Beyond happy with the work and Spencer was amazing & very professional. He kept in contact with me via phone call & text messages letting me know when he was to arrive, when parts came in and so on. He ensured the area he worked was cleaned up afterwards as well. I've already advised some of my friends that if they ever needed any garage door/opener work or weather stripping replaced to contact Spencer. When the time is right I'll be calling Spencer again to replace my other garage door. I love working with smaller businesses and Spencer only proves that they can do amazing work just like the big companies if not better, superb professionalism, timely, extremely responsive, and price for work couldn't be beat! Huge thanks to Spencer for all the work done, very happy with my new door and everything else. Everyone should contact him for garage work needed. If I can I'll try to take some pictures of the work done and upload later.

About as good as you can hope for. Spencer not only showed up on time but gave a call when he was on his way. Spent the better half of the day installing the doors and then, after cleaning up, took the extra time to walk me through all of the features.

Spencer was extremely professional and very fair with pricing.  He explained everything they needed to do, and how long it would take them.  I personally prefer using small owner run companies, I feel the work is of a higher quality and your get a fair price for the job.  Spencer and his company were exactly that...great work for a fair price!  I am so glad I chose them and didn't waste time and money on someone else.

Very nice provider.  Came out for follow up call to assess closing problem.  He feels that it is related to sun hitting safety sensors at certain times of day.

Spencer was professional and a real nice man.  He replaced my old worn rollers with new quiet ones and inspected our garage door opening system to make sure everything was working as it should.  I was impressed with the quality of the work and would certainly recommend Carolina Garage Service for any garage door repair or upgrade.

The service was very good, Spencer himself is very professional and polite. He was on time and performed the job very quick. He answered every question I had and gave me tips and options to do in the future.

He also adjust the door opening that before was too low and it was touched by the SUV trunk lid every time it was opened, now it is just perfect.

Door is quieter and smoother when opens and close. I have to change the motor someday if I want it complete quiet.

They called ahead of time and were punctual.  The serviceman was attentive and listened to my concerns.  He explained what he was doing and the rationale for all recommendations that he had.  The garage door is now much quieter and has been consistently closing, which had been an issue before the service.

The repairman did an excellent job replacing the existing rollers and adjusting the sensors which sometimes prevented the garage door from closing.  He checked all areas of the garage door and opener and explained what he checked and when and how to lubricate the moving parts. Our garage door is now even quieter and I think regular maintenance by a trained professional is worth it.  Thanks Carolina Garage Service!  Your repairman did a great job!

I was looking for tune up which was offered on $39 on amazon local, When they guy came i told him my garage is noisy he said you need to change the roller and total will be $100, Than he said spring need to fix and total will be $150 . after all this he ran the garage and it was still noisy and he said your motor and chain need to replace
Response from Carolina Garage Service, LLC
"sir your garage was very old and in disrepair. a $39 lube and tune did not cover all the damages your garage door. the voucher says what the services include, I performed all those duties. I replaced your old noisy rollers with quiet one with a lifetime warranty for $60, and balanced your door for an additional $50 so it would stop slamming down further damaging your door. my prices are well below market and I provide a ten year warranty with all my work. your operator had the same age and wear as your garage door and was still loud, but the operator noise cant be fixed in your case, just replaced."
