In 2017 I called for quote and was quoted $180 for a basic chimney cleaning by the secretary. When I asked why so much I was told it was a dirty job. The job was not dirty at all, took about 30 minutes of work, and was done completely by the man standing or kneeling in front of the fireplace. I used the fireplace about 5 times and got another quote that was to be either $75 or $150 depending on the work involved after I pointed out I paid $180 the last time for a fast, easy job. The man came and worked about 20 minutes, again easy clean work, and charged me $150. He did the job and no complaints except a warning that seemed EXPENSIVE for the work done.

He was careful with his cleaning and cleaned up after he was done. We had a few mortar joints in the chimney that needed to be repaired and a small leak in out utility room for which he made some great suggestions for repair. The experience went very well.

Steven Janney is very professional, respectful, knowledgeable and does a GREAT job every time.  He returns your calls, arrives on time.  I have used him for over a decade and I have always gotten a terrific job and never leaves any dirt.  He does a great job, keeps it very clean in my house, never leaves a mess and is reasonably priced.  What else can I say other than he is very good.  This is one guy that I have kept using over and over because he is dependable and good.   
This guy is someone you can trust to do a terrific job and inform you about any problems. 

As a new member to Angie's List, I was happy to see Janney's Chimney service listed.  I've used Mr. Janney's services for 25+ years and he's always provided efficient, quality services.  My current woodstove is only 1+ years old and it performed poorly this past winter (long delays before blower would start - then would not stay on long, woodstove was only able to heat one room, etc.).  I presented these concerns to Mr. Janney, and he thoroughly inspected stove for problems, making adjustments.

He arrives on time, is extremely tidy and doesn't make any mess.  I really don't have to worry when he does my chimney which is why I have hired him for years.  He keeps my chimney clean and safe and I trust him to do the job right. 

His price is fair and he doesn't overcharge for his services.  When there is any safety problem, he shows it to me and I give him the go-ahead to fix it but usually there is never a problem.

I was able to schedule my chimney cleaning on short notice (less than a week).  Mr. Janney arrived right on time, he was very professional, and he did a thorough job.

Mr. Janney came and cleaned the chimney. He had a hard time due to some resistant glaze. He also provided a chimney inspection and made recommendation for further repair to ensure safe operation of the fireplace.
