Peter and his crew arrived on time and immediately got right to work patching dings in the walls and removing switch plates. All of Peter's crew were very nice and worked around us. At the end of the day, all the supplies were cleaned up and my office was left very clean. Peter said they would be back the next morning to finish up the main areas. They arrived first thing the next morning as promised, and they got right to work. Peter then scheduled to come back and finish the rest of the office after hours because they didn't want to disturb us while we were working during business hours. The crew again arrived on time and finished the job. They did a great job, and I would gladly use Pete the Painter again.

This was the second time we used Pete. Our previous job he painted two bedrooms for us including trim, ceiling and closets. One bedroom had a popcorn ceiling and he was able to work with it. He did a great job over several days so this time we called him for fixing up the ceiling after having installed some new lights. He repaired the cuts in the ceiling, mudded and skimmed then and then painted the entire ceiling. He removed existing light fixtures to be sure to paint beneath them because he knew we had new lights coming. He used plastic to protect everywhere and when he left at the end of the day it was hard to tell he had ever been there other than having a great looking kitchen ceiling.

Home repairs July 5-7, 2011. I had a verbal contract for $1,900 and paid a deposit of $380.00, twenty percent of the total ceiling scraping and painting work. Upon an inspection of his work in the first two rooms, I noticed many issues, most importantly a surplus of drywall dust between the boards of my new wood flooring. I also found wet fan blades lying in a puddle of water on an unprotected bedroom dresser; scraped popcorn ceiling material in my yard; a bathroom counter covered with water; a water-filled bathroom cabinet that soaked my towels and other supplies in the cabinet; and a damaged door leading to my office. Wet drywall mud was on everything: dripped down my walls, on top of the window sills, stuck between the windows and the hardware of my shades, and on the back of furniture.
Mr. Johnston and his helper cleaned up the drywall dust with water, which packed wet drywall mud into the spaces between my flooring boards. The boards were already warping before he left my house, and I pointed those out to him.
I advised him of the cost to repair the damages and told him I would be filing a claim with his insurance carrier. I asked for the carrier information, and he advised me he would call them. I had written repair estimates of $2,317.62 to replace flooring in two rooms and part of the hallway, and $270 to replace the damaged door.
I had a recorded voice mail three days later where he states his adjuster told him the cost was and quot;10 times too highand quot;. I had never received his insurance information nor have I been contacted by his insurance adjuster since the phone call by him. I have had no response to numerous requests for payment of damages. I have photos of the damages.
My attorney sent a letter and I filed a report with the BBB. They repeatedly wrote to him with no response.
Don't use this guy!

I called Peter because he has done great work for me in the past. He responds quickly, is very professional, and his prices are very reasonable. He repaired a ceiling that had been damaged by water, including replacing a section of drywall. He also painted the ceiling and a wall. He was very thorough, pays attention to detail, takes the time to protect my floors and furniture, and is always friendly. I was originally referred to Peter through a damage restoration company. I had used another painter who botched the job. Peter was able to fix the other painter's mistakes, explained thoroughly what the issues were, and did a wonderful job. He will always be the one that I call whenever I need a painter!
