I had to replace starter motor in my 2000 Ford Taurus. I was in this shop many times before, but recently they changed for the worse. Changing starter in Taurus is easy job, anybody can do it and starer cost anything between 40 and 80 dollars. They charged me $237,27 for the part alone plus 120 labor, which presumably included also checking heater, which still doesn't work. Total was 382 dollars, for job I could do in my garage in 30 minutes, paying 50 bucks for part.
I know one thing - I never come back to Exxon in downtown Matthews.

Exxon - Downtown Matthews are good guys. They are quick and they do a nice job of making sure they are weighing everything they give you. In other words they are not just charging you $20. If you have some left in your tank they adjust for that. They are very helpful and fair. One time I had a tank that was out of date and he wouldn't fill it because he wasn't allowed to, but he let me know how to go about getting a new tank. They are honest and knowledgeable.

I would recommend the Exxon location. I would call first to see if they have availability. The first of the week is busy for them.

The price above is an estimate--they charge the standard price for a NC inspection. The station is a busy one, but if you call ahead, they can tell you if you should drop the car off or if they can do the inspection right away. If you have to drop it off, you're in downtown Matthews within easy walking distance of shops and the library. The inspections are always completed as promised.
