Trey was an excellent communicator and very responsive before, during & after the project. There were some delays getting started but that is expected in this field and Trey always communicated with as much notice as possible & worked with our schedule to accommodate the schedule changes. We were very pleased with the quality of the construction. The crews were always pleasant & courteous. The price was very fair compared to other quotes. The only thing I can say is less than perfect is the wood posts did not take the stain as well as we'd have liked in spots but otherwise, we are very happy with the finished product! Huge transformation!

We hired Carolina Stair to replace our old existing banister and replace with all new wood. The job took about 2 days to install and 2 days to paint. The contractors they used Ney (who installed the banister) and Carlos who painted were both very professional and the job came out amazing. Trey consistently called and came by to check on the progress. Very pleased and would hire Trey again.

Without a doubt the best experience I have had with a contractor by far. Trey was extremely helpful before the start of the project in walking us through the different options we should consider. Once the project started Trey not only checked-in throughout the day he also texted to let me know when his crew would be on-site and afterwards to ask if I was pleased with the work performed during the day. I have never worked with a contractor so focused on the customer having a positive experience. Trey's committment to having the job done right puts him head and shoulder above all other contractors we have worked with in the past. In additon, the crew Trey uses is second to none. They are extremelyt professional, detail oriented, and are focused on making sure you, the customer, are happy with the results. I cannot say enough good things about the overall experience and how happy we are with the work peformed.

Pros: Quality of work was top notch and can't be happier with the finished product. Price was more than reasonable for the work performed. Cons: Communication was not great. Vendor was responsive to calls & texts, but was never proactive on communicating delays. This company uses various sub contractors to perform the work, but has little control of the sub's schedule causing for delay after delay on completing the work. The original estimate was to start and complete the work the first week of October, but the work did not begin until the first week in November and took 3 weeks to complete.

We purchased our home in August 2013. After we removed carpet, we found the stairs underneath were of poor quality pine wood and would only be suitable for carpet. We replaced carpet with hardwood floor for most upstairs level. That was a mistake. It would have been easier and cheaper to put in the hardwood flooring and new stairs at the same time. We asked three contractors to provide quote. While Trey's quote was not the cheapest, his quote seems to be more reasonable. The other two seemed to either did not know what he was doing or very expensive. Trey gave a very detailed explanation, which made us comfortable. We got the quote in November 2013, but did not order the work until June 2014. The quote was revised higher due to higher cost of materials. Try was pretty booked up at the time and work did not start until two months later. Trey and his crew surely know what they were doing. We made several changes along the way and Trey was patient working with us to get the best result. We were very happy with the final result. The new stairs looked fabulous although the final cost was above our original budgeted. Overall, I would rate Carolina Stairs as very professional and high quality. They are the specialist in stairs if you want your home looks nice.

When I called Carolina Stair I was told Trey, the owner's son, would give me a call back. He did and I told him my problem. When he came by, I showed him the railing was loose and unsafe.  He pointed out that the post (newel) was the wrong size and some of the balusters weren't nailed in and loose.  He did not know if it could be repaired or if we needed a new post, railing and balusters. Trey said since this was a safety issue he would squeeze us in ASAP. Trey called to set up a time that his tech, Ney, would be over to work on the problem. Ney showed up on time and was checking out the problems and discussing the options we had. While this was going on, Trey came by and told us that he thought it over and it would be in our best interest to let Ney repair the railing and balusters and just replace the undersized newel. He said since our existing floors and stairs have been affected by sunlight, the contrast between the new and old would be very visible. I am pleased to say that by taking his advice we not only saved money, but eliminated the problem of matching the existing coloring. I feel very good in recommending Carolina Stair for any stair projects.

I can not begin to describe the wonderful experience I had with Carolina Stair Inc. I will start with some complaints I read about where people had trouble getting in touch with Trey Tinch (owner). This is a small family business that is very busy because the work they do is that good! I very quickly learned that all I had to do was send Trey a text message and he ALWAYS responded to my inquiry in a quick and timely manner. The two master craftsmen that Trey assigned to my home were Ney and Walter. Ney did the woodworking on the stairs and Walter was responsible for all the paint and stain work. Ney's woodworking skills are flawless. You can only imagine the amount of work involved with converting a and quot;spec houseand quot; carpeted plywood stair system into a beautiful hardwood stair. There was an incredible amount of wood trim that had to be fabricated and installed as well as the stair treads and risers themselves. EVERY miter joint was PERFECT! The quality and care Ney took when working in our home was incredible. The same high quality standards were also performed by Walter. I can not find one flaw in any of the walls Walter repaired, the paint work done by Walter and his team is the highest quality I have ever seen. The care Walter took in the wood finishing was perfect! Our 30 year old worn wood (parquet) floor matches our stairs perfectly and every thing looks like they were installed at the same time. I also want to add that the design work was done by Trey and now the first impression that people have when they enter our home is the beautiful entrance that was created by Carolina Stair!
We did have a timetable for this project and Trey always completed the work on time. Walter especially would do what it takes to get the job done with minimal inpact to our family. If he had to work late or weekends to meet our timetable, he was there to do it with a big infectious smile.
As stated earlier, this is a small family business. Trey will give you a detailed estimate and will stick to it.The quality and standards they have are the highest I have encounted in Charlotte. As with any construction business, unknown problems will always occur, but Trey will move heaven and earth to make sure that his deadlines are met, and without cutting corners or otherwise effecting the high quality standards that that he has set for his company!

Trey provided excellent ideas as to how blend new railings and balusters with existing flooring and fixtures. The work was started soon afterwards and my wife and I could not be happier with the results. The stair specialist worked extremely hard and was incredibly diligent in his efforts, making sure every piece fitted the way it needed to provide the ultimate results. At the start it was noted that some changes had to be made in the approach to the upstairs floor. These were agreed to and were provided at no further expense to the project.
I would highly recommend this firm to anyone who is considering additions or changes to any aspect of their stairs.

The poles were relatively expensive. It took them about an hour and a half to two hours. They were really nice. They made sure they got it right, so we were pleased.

They probably spent about 2 hours with my wife and I talking about different designs and how it would integrate with our house and the wood floors that were being refinished.

Installers Eric & Izzy were polite, professional and moved with a purpose all day long. I have never seen anyone use a level so many times for each step installed. The steps came out plumb, square and level. Definitely would use them again.
