Job required digging a trench, laying water main of several hundred feet from meter at roadway to my house system. I discovered through my own hard work that in so digging the trench, he needlessly cut an auxiliary water line and electrical circuit supplying my work shed. After minimal ground flooding from Hurricane Arthur, the electrical line shorted. After three days of trouble-shooting and digging, I discovered the underground problem. The plumber, after cutting the lines, had attempted repairs. The auxiliary water line repair was OK (after all he is a plumber), but the electrical repair was unprofessional and even dangerous. The plumber had simply spliced the broken wires back, wrapped them in a little electrical tape, and reburied everything. A little salty ground water later.....disaster. My subsequent repair (rewiring and using an easily obtainable commercial weatherproof electrical splice kit), cost me about $100 and a lot of hard work. When I confronted the plumber, he acknowledged what he had done, apologized, but said I, not he, was responsible for the repair. What really irked me through all this was that before he started the job, he should have known that he was going to cut the readily apparent auxiliary lines. Furthermore, after making a mess of things, he didn't alert me to the potential problem. This guy has no common sense and does not take responsibility for his mistakes. Unprofessional.
