FANTASTIC!!! I am beyond pleased with the experience I had with everyone at Wilsons Natural Landscaping. I have worked with many service providers over the last 25 and very few have been as pleasant and satisfying to work with as the team at WNL. The proposal allowed me to select the options that best addressed my needs and still stay within my budget. The design was comprehensive which made the installation was smooth and trouble-free. My backyard has gone from being a liability to an asset. I'm eager to see the azaleas and dogwood in bloom. I am recommending their services to all of my neighbors. They are in such high demand that you will need to wait patiently for an opening in their schedule.

DO NOT USE. BEWARE!!! Chad performed services for me in October 2017. It was a very unpleasant experience. Chad seems knowledgeable. However, he pulls a bait and switch. He came out, drew a plan, and I never heard from him again until I had problems with the additional costs he charged us. They did not come out and spray as agreed. When I asked I was told "well, it has rained so the ground is soft. Digging up the grass will be better". I voiced my concerns, but let it go. (I'm now dealing with grass in the beds since they did not kill the roots) The day of the installation, they were short one person. In addition, Chad had not provided them a copy of the plan. They were trying to decipher the install from their phones. They kept asking me how the bed was supposed to be designed, what plants go where, etc. I called Elaine and expressed misgivings about the people doing the install and asked where Chad was. She said he wouldn't be coming. I took a day off work to manage the project--to the point of moving plants and boulders myself. I also discovered that agreed upon plants were not provided. He switched them out without asking and manged to choose perennials that I do not like. I insisted that the correct plants be used. I called Elaine yet again and was argued with about how they were hard to find, etc. Then, why include them on a plan? When the installers finished, they agreed to come back the next day with the correct plants. In addition, I told them verbally I wasn't happy with the shape of the bed. I signed the form they asked me to sign and noted the missing plants. I again called Elaine and told her the bed shape wasn't correct. She said they would rework it at no charge. This was in writing as well. Next day, the correct plants appeared. I spent yet another day off work helping them because they still didn't know what to do. They redid the bed shape to what Chad designed originally and apologized to my husband that they did it incorrectly. The installer also told us that they had to redo the all the edging because the guy from the previous day didn't know how to do it. They finished and gave us a bill that was $1000 more than the agreed upon work. I called Chad and asked him and he said he would only "retweak" the bed at no charge and they had to re-edge the whole thing so I had to pay for it. I explained to him that Elaine said it would done to exact specifications no charge. Plus, the installers said they were correcting their errors!! He said that she wasn't at liberty to agree to that. (They have a good cop/bad cop routine down quite well.) We finally got tired of arguing with him and just split the difference and ended up paying $500 more just to get him out of our lives. Fast forward to spring! Of the 10 plants that were brought the next day? All but 2 have died. None of the encore azaleas bloomed in the fall or this spring. They have a guaranteed window of replacing plants. I contacted them three weeks ago within this guarantee. No response. This was the final straw for me and has led to writing multiple reviews in hopes of saving others from this disreputable company.

There was plenty I wasn't happy with but two items especially: 1) I wanted walkable paths. The paths are not walkable because the stone put in the paths are too large to walk on. I can hardly push my mower on this path without great effort to get the mower out of its storage area. I could not have many people walk on these paths without hoping they can keep their balance and not fall over. 2) The workman put flat, roughly 2-3' stepping stones over a pond valve and them violently jumped up and down on the stone to level it. In the process they broke the valve and water from my auto-fill pond feature spilled out and had to be turned off until the valve was repaired. The company claimed they did not break the valve although only they worked in this area and only they jumped up and down on a stone atop the valve. I have a video of the leak but cannot attach it here. I would never hire them again.

"First, please note that this project was completed over 6 months ago and a review was just written. Very surprising and interesting. This project was 100% professionally built. WNL resolved MAJOR drainage issues for Ms. [Member Name Removed], built sidewalks, stone walls, installed a fabulous native plant garden and so forth... and she loved it! The walkable paths in question also act as drainage remediation with piping inside the walks. Thus performing a double duty to allow traveseability and water control. The stone size choice being "complained about" is very walkable and is used on 90% of our projects in which a walkway is required to remediate water issues. In 16 years we have never had a complaint about this specific stone size "not being walkable". It is very walkable, a mower can be pulled though this area- not as easily as turf or concrete of course. This project was a delicate balance between water remediation functionality and utility. Ms. [Member Name Removed] was educated specifically that any smaller stones would wash away down the hillside due to the volume and velocity of water flow and the project would be a failure from a remediation standpoint if this occured. Thus, these concepts were understood and the design was built with Ms. [Member Name Removed]'s needs in the forefront as always. It is a true travesty and disappointment that she would say our professional, seasoned men caused damage to a pond valve apparatus in which they did not. This statement is entirely false. Upon initial meeting, prior to work beginning she had noted there were issues with her pond filling appropriately? Seems a bit of a stretch that she mentions this months later and at project close she understood that WNL did not cause this damage. As a potential client please call with any questions and chat with our customer centric professionals at WNL. We literally partner with many thousands of extremely satisfied long term clients. Social media does not often prompt the great reviews....but often seemingly bored folks to write reviews many months later. We have some great pictures of this project we would love to share- stunning results! If angieslist.com could provide a way for businesses to upload pics we would show off this great work. However, at the moment there does not seem to be that option although we do note that folks writing reviews can upload media?"

Personally, it was a disaster! Use at your own risk. Patchy trees and cut power. Horrible customer service. Where to begin? Let me start at the end. My $8,000 Magnolia trees are bare and patchy, they cut the power line to my house and did not return my phone calls for weeks! I contracted Chad to install 4 large magnolia trees for privacy. Chad INSISTED that they install the water drip lines to ensure proper water levels for the trees or they would not warranty the trees. They charged me top dollar to add some simple bubbler nozzles! 6 months later my trees are bare and dying, they send an arborist who said that whoever put in the drip line did so inadequately, as trees appeared not get get enough water. Then why INSIST to add the drip line yourself? I can't make this stuff up. Arborist said he 'bets' they recover in a season or two?! Also, they nicked the power line when they installed the trees, it corroded and power was lost 2 1/2 weeks ago. The power company had to dig around one of the trees to replace the cut line. Chad refused to call me back about this. The office manager said if Chad gets any downtime he will call me. Since when is cut power and customer service followup suitable only for downtime. Sounds like someone who spends all their time looking for new customers and not relationship building with existing. When Chad finally called me, he said he called the power company to check out my 'story' first. Really, why not just call me?!?!?! I didn't ask for a PENNY from you, even though you were 100% responsible for my troubles! The lack of professionalism is telling, use these guys at your own risk! Funny, when they wanted my business, all my calls were answered. When they wanted the balance for the job (despite changing the terms from quote to contract) they had no problem getting on the phone. Time to stand behind your work? CRICKETS!

"This gentleman is full of stuff! When our educator showed up at his home for the first visit he and his wife complained about every contractor that had ever worked for them from the builder to the electrician to the plumber to the last landscape firm they used. The first red flag should have been heeded by our firm but we love challenges and were sure we could show these folks what an A grade firm could do for them. To address line by line- First not all clients are great or even good. The trees mentioned look fine. We had out team leader stop out and take pictures and view the trees post Chads phone conversation. They look as expected from transplants that are rooting in. The drip line statement is not correct- the concept of more water on the trees is what was stated by an arborist. The client did not monitor his irrigation and did not care to up the time to accommodate the trees as he was directed to do so in warmer weather. Recover in a season or two refers to the standard transplant protocol of taking roughly 3 years for a large field grown tree to root in and begin growth. Truth of the electric line. We did not see or damage lines during our install. Over 1 year later [Member Name Removed] calls and states we cut his line and he was without power for two week and his food was ruined- requesting WNL to pay for his food!!! We have friends at at the power company- we called to provide good customer service and confirm Maloneys statement. They basically said his was lying to us seeking to get some free money! The man was without power for less than 1 hour! as confirmed by the power company themselves. Note his last statement- showing he did not even want to pay his balance when due over a year ago. Not a good experience for our firm. We did supply all customer service as expected."

They showed up as scheduled and did the work in two days. Left the site in excellent condition. The original work was done in Oct of 2014. They came back this June to replace two plants that did not survive. Over all we are pleased with the quality and the outcome. The price may have been a little high, but the work quality was excellent.

Chad the owner was very gracious and straightforward.  He always kept appointments, and quoted with well-written estimates.  If there was a delay, he kept us completely informed through his wonderful office manager.  The crew he employed was made up of professional, polite and hard-working folks.  We were    totally satisfied with Wilson.

Chad spent time meeting with me to assess our needs and carefully inspected our yard.  I was immediately impressed with his knowledge and professionalism.  When Chad's crew arrived, they did everything as promised, and our front yard is back in shape!  His team was professional and hard-working.  Chad's office manger, Elaine, is a prompt and excellent communicator.  I couldn't be happier and look forward to having Chad and his team back to tackle our back yard next!

Chad Wilson came out to talk to me about what I wanted done. He told me that day that they were 2 to 3 weeks out in their work, so I knew what to expect. They were very neat in the tree and stump removal and left the shavings where I asked them to, since I intend to compost them for a year. The crepe myrtle was very close to my storage building, but they were able to remove the crepe myrtle and most of the stump.  They reseeded all of the areas where the trees and stumps were removed. The small elm that was removed wasn't part of the original estimate ($2,365), so they charged me $80 to remove it. They offered to move it elsewhere, but it had grown up in the shadow of the very large crepe myrtle for several years and was in an awkward shape. I'll probably try another American elm, later.

They planted a lovely 2.5-2.75" caliper willow oak in the backyard and a beautiful 15 gallon redbud in the front yard. They made strong soil berms around the plantings and mulched them well. They gave me instructions on watering the new trees. I will be purchasing some of the organic fertilizer that they use when they planted the trees.

I had one incident where there was small but significant damage to the brand-new storage building in my backyard. Chad got right back to me. He spoke to his crew, who assured him they hadn't caused the damage. Part of my fence had been down for several weeks, due to delivery of the building. Fortunately, I was able to get a new vinyl sheet replaced free of charge, from the building company.

Elaine and Chad have been very helpful in answering my many questions. They are very pleasant and professional. They even emailed me a copy of their insurance information, when they emailed me the estimate and the contract. I have enjoyed working with them, and I look forward to enjoying my trees for years to come.

Went great. Chad was a pleasure to deal with. He layed out two very large beds between my house and the street, and also beside my next door neighbor. He choose native plants that would do well. Also added several large bushes/trees to help screen areas in the back yard. I was really surprised how they maneuvered things in place without damaging any existing landscaping. Good job!

Chad Wilson was professional, friendly and punctual in all of our dealings. His crew was also hard working and polite. Chad met with me three different times to discuss possible solutions. This was before I even agreed to have any work done. Chad provided many good choices for me and without any pressure. I am totally satisfied with my entire experience with Wilson's Natural Landscaping. I would use them again, and would recommend them to friends.

We used Wilson's Natural Landscaping for well over a year. In hindsight, this was a big mistake and huge waste of money. I was initially very impressed with the owner, Chad Wilson. He returned my call right way and was able to come out and meet with me on short notice. The re-landscaped our lawn and it looked great. However, as time went on, my husband and I began to realize we were not a priority for Chad and his team. We signed a contract to have them come out weekly for maintenance and there was a period of time of over 5 weeks where they did not show up. Our yard began to look like a jungle. We had to remind them to come out and then, every so often, it seemed that they would forget again that we were their customers and we were left, yet again, to remind them ti show up. At one point the owner mentioned that the cost of gas to come out to us made it tough for them(how unprofessional). If that was the case, they should have never taken us on as customers. Chad gave us some opinions on how to improve our lawn, and we listened. We had tree's cut down, an irrigation system installed and re-sodded our lawn. We noticed a leak in the irrigation system and Wilson's came out to "audit" the system. They charged us and told us everything was fine, we just needed to water less. So we watered less and then our brand new grass began to die. We had irrigation specialists come out and they found that one of the pipes had been hit with a shovel by Chad's team and this was the cause of the leak. We replaced the pipe and no more leak(and we had to pay for this). Then we noticed our backyard was holding water in the middle(lots) and the grass was dying. HIs team did not level the yard before sodding it. We had two other landscape companies come out to tell us this was the case and that the sodding job was done horribly. We finely have a great landscaper who shows up when he is supposed to and has fixed our lawn so that it looks great. And his pricing was a third of Wilson's. DO NOT hire Wilson's for your landscaping needs. They will take you for all you are worth and you will not see the return on investment.

"Wilsons Natural Landscaping is a high quality, reliable, accountable Landscape Contracting firm. We have been in business supplying high quality projects in the Charlotte region for over 8 years. We have a track record with hundreds of extremely satisfied clients. The vast majority of our clients come back to us with repeat projects as we strive to build long term, trusting and lasting relationships. We have been very successful and we are very proud of our relationships. Please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss any negative comments made in the above complaint. This complaint should not hinder your desire or thoughts to work with Wilsons Natural Landscaping as we can supply you with a great multitude of very happy client references. We seek to have a perfect project/relationship every time we work with a client- and the vast majority of the time this happens. However, we do realize mistakes are made and WE HOLD OURSELVES accountable and do fix issues we encounter if given the opportunity. We are not perfect- we try to be. WE ARE ACCOUNTABLE. Being forced to reply to this report I will be brief. I do not wish to seem negative in any manner regarding our relationship with the member. We do appreciate the opportunity to work with them and we did have many good projects with them. Chad has contacted the member to question the report and see how we could professionally rectify the situation, however no sign of being amendable is present on their end. I will briefly address each statement made by the member below. I am Chad Wilson and do appreciate the members comments regarding my knowledge and skills. The member did not sign a maintenance contract with us- we do not undertake this type of contract. We manage on a monthly basis. . However, they did sign multiple install contracts that were executed very well over the past year or so providing a great and successful landscape. This alone shows they were happy with our work, skills and professionalism. We did not perform maintenance during the winter time and do not strive to with folks who are consistently VERY late regarding payments. The fuel comment is unfounded and untrue. . The "project" in question was a $5,000 sod renovation. . We did grade, amend and professionally address soils. There were roughly two (2) areas of the sod that Chad viewed WITH the client, discussed and agreed to replace if decline became evident. It was agreed to wait a week or so to see how the sod/soil behaved. However, the member wrote their complaint prior to the week ending. We were not given the opportunity to view the sod or make agreed upon repairs. They did not adhere to our verbal agreement. WNL did agree to be accountable! Post construction it became apparent we MIGHT HAVE hit an irrigation line. I cannot comfortably say this is a fact although it may be true. Others repaired it. Chad did contact the irrigation company to inform them to send the invoice to us (we have a good relationship with them). However, this report was written prior to the invoice being sent. I can assure that NO Landscape Firm that is a legitimate, professional Landscape Contractor is 1/3 our price points- virtually impossible! We do hope all turns out well for the member and their new landscaper and apologize for ANY shortcomings we may have had during our relationship. Again, please feel free to contact us at any time to discuss our firm, protocols and professional services. We do not wish this single incident to be an indicator of your view of our firm. We can supply hundreds of stellar references and plan to continue our quality work and putting smiles on our client’s faces! Thanks for your time. .
