We recently moved and hired Joel to complete a full structural inspection of our new house. We are exceptionally pleased with the quality of service that he and Darlene provided from start to finish. Despite it being a very busy time of the year, Joel was accommodating with scheduling, completed a thorough review of our house, prepared a detailed findings report, and spent ample time walking through his analysis to make sure we understood his recommendations. Joel is extremely knowledgeable and just trustworthy. Darlene was also a pleasure to work with through the process. I would highly recommend Whitley Engineering to any friends and family. He arrived early and was very nice. When he was done he gave a detailed overview of what he found and an approximate estimate of how much it would cost for some repairs. He even gave an assessment on areas I wasn't even expecting and was honest and professional throughout the whole inspection.

One hour, inside and out, nice engineer. Little trouble with their fax machine (twice) and had to correspond and eventually mail the signed work order to them before they would release my report.

"We apologize for the inconvenience and delay caused by the fax issue. A service call was placed and a technician from Sharp Business Systems checked our equipment with no issues found. He was able to send and receive a fax on Monday. There may have been a glitch in the phone lines on Friday to cause your fax to not come through but no issues were found with our equipment and everything appears to be working at this time."

I could go on for days about the wonderful service provided by Whitley Engineering. I called on a Monday for a quote and to schedule an appointment and Joel was able to do the inspection the next day. Joel was very thorough with his inspection and gave me the best recommendations for how to repair. He answered all of my questions promptly and I couldn't have asked for anyone better to do the inspection. Darlene went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed; the quote, agreement for services, the final report, my invoice, and answers to any questions I had. I would recommend Whitley Engineering to everyone I know.

I have worked with this company previously and trust the opinion and advice received. This time was the same. The evaluation is professional and the advice for the work to be performed is of necessary scope and not overkill. Some engineering companies will perform evaluations that do not take the age of the home into account. My house was built in 1929 and the report I received recognized that some floor slope is fine and provided reasonable repairs to ensure sufficient support but without over engineering a solution.

We worked with Darlene to schedule the structural inspection - she was polite and helpful in getting us scheduled quickly due to an nearing due-diligence end date. I also followed up with her post-inspection several times for miscellaneous questions and she was always quick to get back to me.
Joel himself was extremely helpful. We are out of state buyers, and he went above and beyond in spending time with us to explain the issues at hand. He walked me through the report over the phone, and also gave me a "ballpark" figure of what to expect in terms of costs to fix. After I told him a separate contractor came in very high, he willingly provided me a few contractors he knew that would likely be much lower (and they were).
In addition to the items we asked him to check, Joel also pointed out some other things he thought could be problematic (a tree whose roots may be going under the house that should be removed). Interestingly, before we closed on the house a storm destroyed the tree and the sellers had to cut it down. I sent him pictures of the stump and he looked at them and told me it did not appear to be any damage to the house.
In short, Joel was priced reasonably, and performed above and beyond his scope. I will certainly use Joel again for any future needs.

They did a really good job. It went very well. They were very professional. They were very straightforward about what needed to be done, what could be done and what should be done. They were very thorough. They called around in the 3 foot basement of the house. They were very trustworthy. I certainly do not feel like they were recommending anything that didn't need to be done.

His report listed many structural problems and pointed out shifting and foundation issues. His report went far beyond the general inspection we had already paid for, and I believe it was money very well spent. His services are not the least expensive, but the thoroughness meant we were not going blindly into a home purchase with potentially very expensive repairs that needed to be made. I highly recommend his work and would use him again without hesitation.
